Description:

The Department of Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of kidney and pancreas transplantation, living donor kidney surgery, deceased donor procurement, laparoscopic and/or robotic donor nephrectomy, and vascular access. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. They must also be certified by the American Board of Surgery or equivalent international equivalent, or hold board-eligible status, and have completed an ASTS accredited multi-organ transplant fellowship.

Teaching responsibilities may include clinical and didactic education of medical students, surgical residents and transplant fellows.

Clinical responsibilities may include kidney and pancreas transplantation, with duties in other areas as noted above.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include clinical or basic science studies in in the noted specialties and/or associated scientific fields.

Experience with basic, translational, and/or clinical research will be required. The clinical practice for this position will be focused at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, with secondary duties at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
