Academic Physicians - Neurology #PED173
The University of Chicago

Chicago, Illinois

Description

The University of Chicago's Departments of Neurology and Pediatrics are searching for full-time faculty members at any rank with a clinical focus in movement disorders. Appointees will contribute to patient care, medical education, and scholarship, and join a vibrant and distinguished community of faculty colleagues and learners in UChicago Medicine, the Biological Sciences Division, the Pritzker School of Medicine, and the University of Chicago and its affiliates. Duties include teaching and supervision of trainees and medical students, and scholarly activity. Appointees will focus on consulting on both adult and pediatric movement disorders related duties. Other missions on education and research apply as a general requirement for academic neurologists. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

This is a joint recruitment, with a primary appointment in the Department of Neurology and Secondary appointment in the Department of Pediatrics. We anticipate that the majority of the initial clinical work will be in adult movement disorders, with a smaller portion of clinical effort dedicated to pediatric movement disorders.

The University of Chicago Comer Children's Hospital is a busy urban teaching hospital with a diverse patient population and is located on the same campus as the medical school and the University. The University also has a robust Neuroscience Institute, which brings together more than 90 neuroscientists based in academic and clinical departments across the campus into a cohesive program. A tradition of excellence in patient care, basic, clinical, and translational sciences, combined with the strengths of one of the world's top academic institutions, provides the foundation for a career as an academic physician.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neurology or Child Neurology, and 4) have Movement Disorders fellowship training (Adult or Child).

We especially welcome applicants with procedure skills including botulinum toxin injection and deep brain stimulation (DBS) candidate selection and programming for dystonia cases. Additionally, we welcome applicants with research interests in movement disorders.

To be considered, those interested must apply through The University of Chicago, Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to accept applications: http://apply.interfolio.com/139655. Applicants must upload a CV including bibliography. Review of applications ends when the positions are filled.
