Job Title: Associate Director, Communications, U.S. Rare Disease

Location: Cambridge, MA, 2-3 days a week onsite.

About the Job

Sanofi is seeking a strategic, motivated and experienced communications professional for the position of Associate Director of U.S. Communications to serve as Lead, Rare Disease Franchise communications. This position will be responsible for planning and managing external and internal communications for the Rare Disease franchise in the U.S. The position will be based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The Associate Director will lead communications for the company's Rare Disease business, which includes pioneering treatments for rare genetic disorders and other serious diseases, as well as a pipeline of assets in clinical trial development. The role will support the internal and external communications for the Rare Disease franchise portfolio of medicines, as well as communicate Sanofi's leadership, innovation, and commitment to patients including our medicines, advocacy efforts, patient support services and applicable CSR initiatives.

This role will work closely with the General Manager for U.S. Rare Disease franchise and be part of the Extended Leadership Team for U.S. Rare Disease as the communications business partner.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage comprehensive communication strategies internally and externally to support the business units brand priorities, including partnering with the Global Media Relations team members dedicated to U.S. efforts, to ensure aligned messaging and positioning.
  • Develop and implement thought leadership and engagement plans for the General Manager and the Rare Disease franchise. Direct and deliver effective executive communications and thought leadership.
  • Provide strategic leadership in the creation and implementation of impactful communication programs, internally and externally, across brand areas. This will include but is not limited to disease awareness/brand integration programs; branded communication activity; digital communications; new product entries.
  • Possess a good working knowledge of the overall digital and social media landscape with the ability to deliver innovative approaches and plans within this growing and important space.
  • Manage the work executed by the agency of record for communications.
  • Liaise and partner with U.S. and global Corporate Affairs colleagues.

  • Ability to research, develop, deliver and measure communications strategies and plans with a goal of showcasing communications successes to internal and external audiences
  • Expertise in communications concepts, practices, strategies and tactics based on understanding of key audiences and corporate objectives
  • Proactive, self-starter with the ability to work independently and in team environment
  • Excellent networking and relationship-building skills and the ability to interact with confidence with various levels and functions
  • Bachelor's degree; preferred in Communications, Business Administration, English or Journalism
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent collaboration, negotiation and influencing skills; demonstrated ability to work with senior leaders
  • Strong issues management capabilities
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience in internal and external communications
  • Ability to collaborate in a heavy matrix environment
  • 6-8 years of corporate communications experience in the healthcare space or pharmaceutical industry
