Job Title: Associate Director, Commercial Training Excellence
Location: Boston
Overview:
The Associate Director, Sales Excellence and Learning is responsible for collaborating with Sales Training and the Field Access Director (FAD) team to develop training materials that align with the strategic objectives of the Account Manager and Field Access Management (FAM) team. This role is pivotal in leading the creation and execution of meeting content, conducting field assessments to evaluate message delivery and identify development opportunities, and coordinating access training with various departments. Additionally, the individual is tasked with creating a comprehensive training curriculum for new hires and ongoing development for the FAM team, fostering collaboration with the Commercial training team to find synergies, regularly reviewing adherence to key performance indicators and budget.
The role also involves the implementation of sales training programs, ensuring they are current and effective, and coaching trainers and sales representatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Training Development and Implementation:
- Create, develop, and implement all Basic Training, New Hire Training, Advanced Training, and Train the Trainer classes across all divisions.
- Spearhead the creation and implementation of meeting content.
- Organize and manage new hire training programs, including developing and evaluating onboarding plans.
- Collaborate with the FAD team to develop training materials that align with the Field Access Management team's strategic objectives.
- Evaluate message delivery through field assessments and identify development opportunities for the FAM team.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Coordinate access training with various departments, including Market Access, Marketing, Patient Services, Trade, Human Resources, and Medical.
- Foster collaboration with the Commercial training team to find synergies and opportunities.
Coaching and Feedback:
- Coach, prepare evaluations, and deliver feedback at the conclusion of training classes.
- Coach and prepare Trainers and/or Regional Sales Managers that assist during training classes.
- Assist with the development of Account Managers and Field Access Managers
Operations:
- Create a comprehensive training curriculum for new hires and ongoing development for the FAM team.
- Create, manage, and assign learning curriculum in the LMS environment.
- Develop and lead Virtual and Instructor-led training (VILT/ILT) in multiple digital platforms.
- Work with external vendors to identify and implement new technologies within the training environment.
- Ensure compliance with Veeva system usage, including entering calls, syncing, and responding to tasks.
Performance Review:
- Regularly review adherence to key performance indicators, budget, and other relevant metrics.
- Ensure current and effective training programs for sales representatives by remaining informed of new training methods, techniques of competitors, and pending introduction of new company products.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Education, Psychology, or a related field, required
- 8-10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, with previous pharmaceutical sales experience (e.g., Sales Rep, Territory Manager) is required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in Field Access Management AND 2 years of pharmaceutical sales training experience, required
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience working with sales tracking and reporting software.
- Excellent presentation platform skills and the ability to demonstrate leadership abilities (e.g., team lead, project lead, and/or people management).
- Strong record of documented success (e.g., career progression, performance reviews, and/or increased responsibilities).
- Ability to develop specialized Field Access content and leverage synergies across the matrix team.
- High level of passion for purpose, accountability, collaboration, and external focus.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Travel is estimated at 30% of time for conferences and meetings as needed.
