Job Summary

The Facility Rating and Modeling (RAM) Group is responsible for the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of Avangrid's facility ratings databases and its standard methodology to ensure compliance with NERC FAC-008 and to document electric system upgrades to the Avangrid Transmission system. The engineer will participate on the review Ratings and Modeling (RAM) packages for accuracy and compliance to Avangrid standards and to requirements of Energy Reliability Organizations (EROs) to ensure that accurate facility ratings are documented and that are ultimately used as inputs to various databases and software that is used by many engineering and planning disciplines across Avangrid. Accurate facility ratings ensure that the modeling information is current and ultimately results in safe & reliable operation and planning of the Avangrid transmission network. Facility Rating and Modeling engineer will participate to maintain and improve Avangrid Rating Methodology standards. The engineer will verify that all network projects & system upgrades meet the Ratings and Modeling (RAM) methodology, are complete, and coordinate the package review and concurrence of the stakeholders outlined in the Rating and Modeling approval process.

Responsibilities

Verify ratings reports for all transmission facilities modified or new ensuring completeness and accuracy of the report. Guide initiators during RAM process in order to approve RAM process within project schedule. Coordinate impedance calculation between project group and RAM group. Participate in FERC FAC-008 Audits, preparing audit information and addressing auditor required information. Review and Propose improvements to the Facility Rating Methodology and take the lead in implementing them. Participate implementing Ambient Adjusted Ratings (AAR) on Avangrid transmission facilities. Coordinate update of Avangrid ASPEN one liner model with the information produced during RAM process.

Skills and Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 0-3 years of experience, in electric system design, operations and maintenance or relevant field of work.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communications skills.
  • Effective in managing multiple priorities and an effective team player.
