Job Description:

The Department of Revenue (DOR) seeks a talented and dynamic individual to join our fast-growing Cyber, Analytics and Taxation (CAT) team within the Compliance Division. As an Audit Business Systems Analyst (BSA)/Coordinator you will analyze DOR data for various teams within DOR; and manage and lead major system improvement projects and new system developments in Compliance. This position utilizes a special combination of audit, accounting, and information technology skills.

Job Duties include, but are not limited to:
* Data Analytics - The Audit BSA Coordinator will clean, organize, and analyze historical data in order to reveal useful patterns and extract information. Additionally, the Audit BSA Coordinator will provide leads and recommendations from machine learning to help improve our processes.

* Economic Incentives - Assimilate data from different agencies; Analyze taxpayer data for compliance with the various economic incentive programs.

* Project Lead - Communicate with management to ensure agreement on system principles. Communicate business requirements to application developers for the development and modification of business systems. Establish timelines and ensure timely project completion.

* Technology Support - Provide technical instruction/assistance on how to use audit related automated applications; Investigate reported system malfunctions and document findings (solve user errors); Communicate with appropriate staff on identified malfunctions; Provide training to end users.

Requirements/ Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Experience in the analysis of business processes and system requirements, and the creation of business process solutions for large-scale business system applications.

Preferred Qualifications: In addition to the requirements above, preference for one or a combination of the following: (1) experience in using SQL for data development and data analysis; (2) experience working in Oracle and/or SQL server environment; (3) experience in programming languages; (4) 24 semester hours in accounting or auditing; (5) knowledge of DOR tax and/or incentive programs.

Other: Please attach a copy of your transcripts.Qualified candidates will demonstrate: analytical skills to evaluate data and perform ad-hoc query and create logical and innovative solutions to complex problems; interpersonal skills to liaison with business users and IT developers to help negotiate priorities and resolve conflicts; organizational skills to regulate the influx information to ensure projects stay within timeframe and budget.

Knowledge of: Nebraska tax and incentives programs; audit programs; Department of Revenue tax filing systems; system design and analysis; needs assessment techniques; quality service standards; customer satisfaction evaluation techniques; information requirements analysis; specification development and writing; prototype evaluation; principles and processes involved in business and organization planning, coordination, and execution; design techniques, principles, tools, and instruments; instructional methods and training techniques.

Skills in: SQL scripts development; Excel advanced features; accounting and governmental auditing; information gathering; conveying users' perspective to technical people in technical language and technical perspective to users in non-technical language; using logic and analysis to identify the strengths and weaknesses of different approaches; conducting tests to determine whether equipment, software, or procedures are operating as expected; reading comprehension; excellent written and verbal communication skills; reorganizing information to get a better approach to problems or tasks; coordinating work activities of others, assigning work to others, preparing project/work plans, and monitoring work progress.

Ability to: communicate information to others, orally and in writing; recognize and identify problems and provide possible solutions; combine separate pieces of information, or specific answers to problems to form general rules or conclusions; combine and organize different pieces of information into a meaningful pattern; analyze data or information to obtain information needed to do the job; think logically; evaluate information against a set of standards and verify that it is correct; document/record information; organize, plan and prioritize work.
