Burn Surgeons - #SUR130
The University of Chicago

Chicago, Illinois

Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Surgery, Section of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, is searching for full-time faculty members at any rank. Appointees will provide burn coverage at The University of Chicago with expertise in general plastic and/or trauma reconstruction. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

The UCM has been at the forefront of medical care since 1927. Located in historic Hyde Park, the primary medical campus includes the Center for Care and Discovery, Comer Children's Hospital, Bernard A. Mitchell Hospital for adult inpatient care, and the Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine (DCAM) totaling more than 550 beds in service and net patient care revenues over $1. 4 billion. Plans are underway for a new trauma program and an additional 150-bed patient tower. New ambulatory facilities are located in Orland Park and the South Loop, and the Ingalls Health System has recently integrated into the network.

The Section of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery is committed to excellence in education, research, patient care, and community service. It has 8 full-time faculty members who attend UChicago facilities at Hyde Park and Orland Park. The Section runs the University of Chicago Burn and Complex Wound Center, which has been verified by the American Burn Association and the Committee of Trauma of the American College of Surgeons every three years for the past 15 years. Burn care at The University of Chicago is multidisciplinary - the team includes plastic surgeons, critical care physicians, physical and occupational therapists, nurses, nutritionists, pharmacist, social workers, clergy, and a nurse practitioner.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be board certified or eligible in plastic and reconstructive surgery, and 4) have completed an accredited fellowship or equivalent training in burn reconstruction.

We especially welcome applicants with active engagement in scholarly activity and teaching, as well as some experience in a level one trauma center.

To be considered, those interested must apply through The University of Chicago's Academic Recruitment job board, which uses lnterfolio to accept applications: https://apply.interfolio.com/135460. Applicants must upload a CV including bibliography and cover letter. Review of applications ends when positions are filled.
