As a Business Manager - Federal Business Development, your typical day might include:
- Oversee business and financial processes, work standards, reports, and business systems
- Develop short and long-term business plans.
- Educate management teams and employees in SEL's way of doing business.
- Create and maintain key performance indicators, metrics, and ratios. Conduct regular analysis and reporting, including financial planning, reporting, and analysis.
- Conducting research and lead generation using web resources of US federal and international agencies and organizations, and open-source data.
- Conducting business development, marketing, writing, and communications.
- Creating and maintaining electronic filing systems and tracking leads.
- Assisting Proposal Managers with account management and business development.
- Ensuring that proposals and business development comply with the Federal Acquisition Regulations, organizational policies, and contracting terms.
- Collaborating with US and international teams on business development information and marketing materials.
- Facilitate effective communication between SEL, the contracting officer, contractors and project teams to resolve issues and ensure project success.
- Working independently on multiple projects.
- Mentoring or supervising others.
- Lead federal (CONUS & OCONUS) projects capture management, proposal development, and bid preparation.
- Experience in conducting lead generation utilizing databases such as GovWin, GovTribe, dgMarket, etc.
- Processing Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) and Teaming Agreements (TAs).
- Assisting with meetings and international customer visits to the US.
- Researching prime bidders and project awardees.
This job might be for you if you have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related discipline is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in a federal business development environment for a federal government contractor or contracting officer representative.
- US citizenship.
- Knowledge of successful financial, business, and sales models.
- A basic understanding of federal government procurement policies and practices.
- Exceptional analytical, prioritization, time management, and organizational skills. Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Office 365 (e.g., Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe, and SRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce).
- The ability to develop positive, professional relationships and work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Proven ability to successfully supervise and lead teams.
- Ability to work flexible work hours on an ad hoc basis to support colleagues and customers in international time zones.
- The ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
- Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to facilitate effective communication between SEL, contractors, contracting officers, and project teams.
- The ability to travel up to 25%.
- Experience in power, water, wastewater, utilities, and defense critical industrial sectors (preferred).
- Knowledge and experience of engineering and construction business practices and processes (preferred).

Salary Range DataWe anticipate filling this position as a Business Manager $93,500 - $115,000 per year. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the pay range may differ if filled at a different level. Our pay ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
