As the Controller, you will play a critical role in managing financial operations and ensuring the smooth functioning of the accounting processes. The Contractor will oversee and support accounting staff during month-end and year-end close processes and will ensure the overall accuracy of financial data. This position is expected to last 6 months to 1 year.
Primary responsibilities include:

Financial Close & Compliance: Assist with month-end and year-end close procedures, ensuring all financial records are accurate, timely, and compliant with accounting standards.

General Ledger Management: Review and ensure the General Ledger is in compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

Reconciliations & Reporting: Perform bank reconciliations and ensure all financial statements and reports are prepared accurately.

WIP Schedule Management: Update and manage the Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedule, requiring advanced proficiency in Excel.

Payroll Support & Tax Filings: Assist with payroll quarterly returns for 250 employees in Ohio and Virginia, ensuring timely 941 Payroll Tax filings.

Team Collaboration: Work closely with the accounting team and provide guidance during financial closing processes.
Required Skills & Experience:
- At least 7 years of experience in a Controller or similar financial management role, with construction industry experience strongly preferred.
- Advanced proficiency with Excel and Foundations software.
- Solid understanding of general accounting principles, payroll tax filing, and financial reporting.

Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Experience with Payroll Tax filings, specifically 941.
- Familiarity with ADP payroll systems.
