Position: Controller

Duration: Direct Hire

Salary: $180,000-$220,000

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management
    • Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
    • Develop, monitor, and update project budgets, ensuring costs align with estimates.
    • Prepare and present accurate financial statements and management reports.
  • Project Accounting
    • Track project-specific expenses, revenue, and profitability.
    • Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate cost coding and timely invoicing.
    • Manage and forecast cash flow for ongoing projects.
  • Compliance and Risk Management
    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including tax and labor laws.
    • Conduct audits to identify and mitigate financial risks.
    • Maintain proper documentation for financial transactions and regulatory filings.
  • Strategic Planning
    • Partner with executive leadership to create financial strategies that support business objectives.
    • Analyze financial trends and offer recommendations to optimize profitability and efficiency.
    • Assist in long-term financial planning and investment decisions.
  • Team Leadership
    • Manage and mentor the accounting and finance team.
    • Establish and enforce financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
    • Foster collaboration between departments to streamline processes and improve reporting accuracy.
  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).
    • 7+ years of experience in construction accounting or financial management.
    • Proficiency in construction accounting software (e.g., Procore, Sage 300, or Viewpoint).
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP and construction-specific accounting standards.
    • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
