Under general direction of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Invasive Cardiovascular Service Directors and the direct supervision of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Information Systems Director, the Data Quality Nurse manages the data collection on invasive cardiovascular procedures. Maintains strong integration with other nurse practitioners, physician assistances, fellows, attending MD's and referring MD's offices.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
1. Performs continuous quality monitoring of the invasive cardiovascular procedures reporting in Apollo cardiovascular database. Tracks incomplete reports and works with fellows and attending MDs to complete reports. Performs data entry when needed.
2. Trains new fellows and attending MDs in the data entry techniques.
3. Supervises the in-hospital outcome data collection and facilitates the completeness of the outcome records. Performs telephone follow-up when required.
4. Performs database data quality checks against patient charts and discharge summaries.
5. Provides the feedback for the further database development, participates in the implementing the new features in the database design.
6. Uses the database to obtain and provide the statistical data for the M&M conferences, Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory management and cardiology management.
7. Helps to design new database queries and reports by producing the feedback and evaluating the impact of existing procedures.
