The Director, Automation Engineering for Data Modelling and Simulation is responsible for developing and validating innovative engineering solutions to use within the Store fulfillment network to improve customer experience, business demand and cost to serve. The goal of this role is to assist with the design and development of simulation models that will be used to evaluate the efficiency of the fulfillment automation systems.
This position reports to the Senior Director, Automation Engineering. This is an onsite role based in Bentonville, Arkansas; a full relocation package is available, but we are not considering remote candidates at this time.
What you'll do...
- Be a part of the team responsible for the technical research and design of next generation technologies to support the growth of the store fulfillment network.
- Responsible for building and executing simulation model that can identify potential bottleneck and improvement opportunities with the design and make recommendation to maximize customer service level and overall return on investment.
- Collaborate with various cross functional partners to collect the necessary data, validate the underlying assumptions and guiding principles, build/configure the model to represent the concept design, execute the model and generate KPI for automation systems and associates, analyze the output and make recommendations for improvement.
- Simulate operation execution algorithms that drive product put away/replenishment, splitting SKUs across multiple totes, order prioritization, order batching, etc. and make recommendations of optimization algorithms that maximizes asset utilization, throughput, and system/associate performance.
- Build 3-D animation and visualization of the simulation model and present it to the engineering leadership team to effectively communicate potential opportunities for design improvement.
- Support continuous improvement by actively adhering to lean principles, design of experiments, failure mode effect analysis, design for Six Sigma, design for Mean Time To Repair (MTTR).

Live Better U is a Walmart-paid education benefit program for full-time and part-time associates in Walmart and Sam's Club facilities. Programs range from high school completion to bachelor's degrees, including English Language Learning and short-form certificates. Tuition, books, and fees are completely paid for by Walmart.

The annual salary range for this position is $130,000.00-$260,000.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field and 5 years' experience in Engineering, supply chain, or a related area. Option 2: 7
years' experience in Engineering, supply chain, or a related area.
3 years' supervisory experience.
