The Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in either the non-tenure clinician educator track or the tenure track. Applicants must have an M.D and/or Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Expertise is required in the specific area of research leadership and team science, including management of staff. Candidates are expected to be an established research leader in their area of specialization. The successful candidate's faculty appointment will be in the Perelman School of Medicine (PSOM) department that best matches the candidate's scientific interests and skill set. Candidates in midcareer are encouraged to apply. Rank will be commensurate with experience.

Teaching responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, teaching and mentorship of Penn students, residents and fellows, as well as graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Teaching responsibilities are under the purview of the candidate's home department.

Clinical responsibilities may include activities in the faculty member's clinical specialty (if relevant) and are under the purview of the candidate's home department.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include scientific leadership of managing and integrating data for clinical trials and observational studies; assist with grant writing; consider the big picture of the tools that need to be competitively nationally and aligned with national and international standards; lead data coordinating center efforts. While both tenure and clinician-educator track faculty conduct methodological and collaborative research, tenure track faculty focus primarily on methodological research while clinician-educator track faculty focus primarily on collaboration.

The desired candidate will supervise two directors and three associate directors; monitor the FTE load well enough to know over the course of a year the risk and benefits of hiring; envision the work of the CRCU three years ahead to monitor effort against funding in hand vs. funding pending, as well as assist in creating budgets, prepare materials for presentations about the CRCU, assist with marketing of the CRCU across the university and cultivate a relationship with leadership in clinical research across the Perelman School of Medicine.

The CRCU provides a complete set of services to facilitate the collection, storage, and management of clinical research data for any size research study conducted by university investigators and their collaborators. It currently has 22 FTEs and hosts 70 projects.
