Description

The Director Product Assurance plays a key role in the DwyerOmega Product Engineering team.

Broad expectations are to support test lab activities in support of Engineering, Quality, Operations. Additionally, development/refine operational models for three primary pursuits- 1) Accredited calibration as a service for both internal measurement equipment within the portfolio, 2) External Customer requested calibrations sold as an add-on(s) to a product, and 3)External Customers with equipment that need calibration. Extensions for broader oversight of Product performance and compliance to requirements can be considered.

This position will sit on the CTO Engineering Staff with the expectation that they contribute to the broader Product Engineering Team and its execution in addition to working collaboratively across functions. Responsibility will have global reach and visibility.

Requirements

Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Managerial:

  • Performance and Career manage assigned teams that will be at multiple geographical sites
  • Manage assigned budget to plan
  • Drive common workload tracking for Customer calibrations, Internal calibrations, Eng Testing for Product Validation, RMA Analysis support, "Sandbox" Testing
  • Work with Product Management on the "Business" of Product Accreditation and Calibration
  • Develop and maintain process for workload assignment and status updates to associated Stakeholders
  • Assist in coordination of Product Compliance test activities
  • Support Mfg Plant Quality needs - internal or external (RMAs)
  • Develop and report out on operational and performance KPIs
  • Optimize operational footprint- equipment and resources
  • Work with Engineering on DVP&R development and execution
  • Become single point contact for M&A Integration for Test Labs, Equipment, Calibration
  • Develop roadmap for competencies in Test methodologies, Test equipment, Structured Root Cause Analysis techniques
Test labs:
  • Common Test procedures for like Product
  • Common Test measurement procedures
  • Drive common equipment across footprint for test and measurement for both development and production
  • Manage maintenance schedules and calibration needs
  • Leverage overall Test Operations and manage demand across footprint
  • Lead the internal/external needs of outside testing and accreditation
  • Internal investments in competencies vs. Establishing Supplier relationships for certain testing (EMC/EMI as an example)
  • Manage Accredited Calibration Lab and Process (ISO17025+)
  • Manage NIST Calibrations
Warranty - Resell
  • Common RMA workflows across footprint for Resell product
  • Work with Procurement and Operations on Resell Warranty reclaims
  • Provide performance management for the assigned team including career and succession planning/evaluation
  • Collaborative member of the CTO staff supporting Product, Process, Performance, and People management activities
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
  • 10+ years managing Test Lab execution for Industrial, Aerospace, Automotive or Consumer products
  • 5+ years supervising Teams including performance management
  • 5+ years managing a Departmental Budget
  • Management of multi-site (including global) Engineering resources
  • Bachelors degree in an Engineering or Science discipline- Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Physics, Chemistry, Metallurgy
Essential/Preferred Skills :
  • Master Degree in relevant technical area preferred
  • Experience with NIST, ISO17025 and associated product certification standards
  • Experience with a variety of test and measurement equipment
  • Experience with collecting and reporting lab operational KPIs to various stakeholders
  • Familiarity with relevant Industry standards for product compliance
  • Demonstrated communication skills based on situation and need
  • Demonstrated visibility to Customer and Supplier activities
  • Familiarity with lean tools such as Kaizens, Six Sigma, Shainin, etc.
Work Conditions and Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in an office environment with reasonable accommodations as needed
  • Ability to navigate a test lab with moving equipment and people
  • Ability to navigate a production floor making volume product with moving equipment and people
  • Noise levels will be typical of office and manufacturing environments, with reasonable accommodations as needed
  • Travel expectations: max 20-30% for domestic, 1 or 2 trips outside US possible per year
