Work independently to develop and maintain Component database, Component obsolesce management, component risk assessments and advise other team members about their use and maintenance. They work closely with design engineers, procurement teams, and manufacturing personnel to select, evaluate, and qualify components that meet the system's requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Guide team members in selecting appropriate components based on engineering requirements.
- Research and identify components that meet specifications, performance, and cost constraints.
- Possess technical expertise in reading schematics, drawings, and datasheets.
- Interface with manufacturers and suppliers to source components.
- Inspect alternative components to improve quality, reliability, and cost.
- Understand scientific techniques related to physics of failure and component analysis.
- Have knowledge of components with specific life and temperature requirements, including PCB build process. Manage all aspects of component selection, production, qualification, obsolescence, and documentation.
- Create and maintain component library databases, schematic symbols, and component land patterns.
- Demonstrate proficiency with design tools like Altium, Cadence Allegro, or Mentor Graphics Expedition.
- Design and create accurate footprints/Cells for various electronic components, considering factors like package type, pin spacing, and manufacturing tolerances. Develop schematic symbols that accurately represent component behavior and pin connections.
- Organize and maintain component libraries for easy navigation and compatibility.
- Review and verify the accuracy of component libraries, identifying and correcting errors.
- Collaborate with PCB designers, engineers, and manufacturing teams to address component-related issues.
