Purpose

The primary purpose of this temporary position is to ensure complete and timely processing of Refugee Interest Forms (RIF), Priority 3 Affidavits of Relationship (P3 AOR), Central American Minor Affidavits of Relationship (CAM AOR) and Lautenberg Affidavits of Relationship (AOR). An important prerequisite for this position is the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a collegial manner and to work independently to carry assignments through to completion. Strong attention to detail, problem solving and customer services skills are essential to this position.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain up-to-date self-education about resettlement and integration programs, and develop specific expertise in family reunification programs. Ensure other unit colleagues are informed as appropriate.
  • Maintain day-to-day contact and provide training and technical assistance for CWS affiliates on family reunification applications. Serve as primary point of contact on matters relating to family reunification for headquarters and affiliate network staff.
  • In coordination with supervisor, analyze program guidelines to ensure agency and affiliate compliance; as necessary, assist in the development or revision of CWS policies, standard operating procedures and training materials to ensure high quality service provision by CWS affiliates.
  • Handle all aspects of processing RIF, P3 AOR and CAM AOR applications submitted by CWS affiliates.
  • Liaise with affiliate, Refugee Processing Center (RPC) and Resettlement Service Center (RSC) staff as necessary to ensure timely submission and follow up on all P3 AOR, RIF and CAM AORs.
  • Ensure that all applications are deemed eligible for submission are submitted to the RPC within the Department of State established timeframes.
  • Assist in preparing daily upload of applications to the RPC.
  • Respond to all P3 AOR, RIF, CAM AOR, Lautenberg AOR inquiries from affiliates, CWS staff, and external partners within pre-established timeframes.
  • Assist for all CWS family reunification applications, with status checks, medical inquiries, and requests for further assistance or documentation from affiliates, RPC staff, and RSC staff.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with CWS-HQ staff, local affiliate staff & external partners through professional communication.
  • Liaise with other unit colleagues for the purpose of sharing relevant information regarding resettlement sites.
  • Keeps abreast of new changes in refugee processing procedures by reviewing news articles, monthly reports, statistical analysis and other documents from sources that include RPC, RSCs and RCUSA committees.
  • Performs other related duties and projects as requested.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Experience filing P3 AORs, CAM AORs, Lautenberg AORs, RIFs strongly preferred;
  • Excellent project and data management skills;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to manage a large and diverse workload under pressure and with competing priorities;
  • Ability to maintain a high performance standard with attention to detail;
  • Experience in general office work, processing information and materials and maintaining records and files.

Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and diplomacy skills; ability to work collaboratively and effectively with partners and teams;
  • Strong attention to detail a must
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a professional and courteous manner at all times to represent the professional and institutional interests of CWS;
  • Strong knowledge and experience in working with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and database software is essential;
  • Strong writing skills required.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment required.

Education & Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education or work experience.

Work Location:

This position is a remote US-based role with in-person responsibilities. Employees with a remote work arrangement must be able to fulfil the following conditions:

  • Ability to maintain secure and appropriate personal work environment for day-to-day work
  • Access to strong and reliable internet access
  • Ability to adhere to CWS data security policies and protect sensitive and personally identifiable information
  • Regular work hours must span core business hours 10AM-4PM Eastern time
  • Close proximity to U.S. airport and ability to travel to attend CWS and external meetings, conferences, site visits and other in-person engagements.
  • Must use CWS provided equipment such as laptop and cell phone
