Position Overview:

The Financial Analyst primary objectives are to provide comprehensive financial analysis and controllership services to the Port Arthur Refinery, act as the focal point for operating cost reporting and reviews, support process standardization through active participation in Finance initiatives, participate in Business Focus Improvement Teams, and identify and embed best practices from other Motiva lines of business to maximize the benefits of integrated financial and management information systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the focal point for collating, interpreting, and reporting monthly cost and operational performance, ensuring a clear understanding of business performance.
  • Facilitate communication and engagement with business leaders, ensuring appropriate financial services support for refinery-wide initiatives.
  • Process and present financial information to a diverse and dynamic audience, working as a valued member of cross-functional teams.
  • Provide financial controllership and analysis.
  • Support process standardization through active participation in Finance initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and support in developing the annual business plan and establishing objectives.
  • Assess systems, procedures, policies, and practices to ensure continual work process improvements.

Experience and Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
  • 3.0 or above GPA requirement.
  • 0-3 years of financial analysis experience or relevant internship experience.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively challenge costs and influence business partners.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated curiosity.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Adaptability to thrive in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ability to convey financial information to cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in creating and managing complex spreadsheets.
  • Knowledge of financial systems, including SAP.
  • Experience with Power BI.
  • Knowledge of refinery and/or chemical complexes.
