Financial Analyst Consultant- Administrative Expenses

Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and in office one day per week). Ideal candidates will live within 50 miles of one of our Pulse Point locations in Indianapolis, IN, Chicago, IL, Norfolk, VA, Mason, OH, Atlanta, GA, St. Louis, MO, Wallingford, CT or Louisville, KY.

The Financial Analyst Consultant- Administrative Expenses is responsible for supporting the expense planning, analysis, accounting, and reporting functions and responsible for reviewing and preparing interpretation of historical financial data, financial projections, and results. Performs consulting services to support business development studies, economic evaluation, and planning functions.

How you will make an impact:

  • Assists with preparation, consolidation and analysis of the annual departmental expense budget and multiyear operating expense plan, as well as general expense budgeting for specific areas of the business and periodic re-forecasts.
  • Assists with expense studies for determining allocations of operating expenses to line of business, product and legal entity, headcount tracking and forecasting as well as corporate and M&A project expense tracking and forecasting.
  • Supports company-wide expense management for the organization, including the preparation of the company's annual expense plan and related monthly re-forecasts.
  • Assists with expense study analysis for general administrative expenses, expense allocations by line of business and unit cost assumptions; includes maintaining support for audit inquiries and ongoing support for key stakeholders.
  • Prepares senior executive level expense analyses with a focus on providing insightful, value-added analysis that informs business decisions and supports achievement of the Company's strategies/goals.
  • Manages month-end closing process responsibilities such as establishing review process and procedures to ensure efficient, timely and accurate reporting of expenses/headcount/projects, preparing general ledger entries, supporting expense allocations, preparing analysis of expense results compared to budget/forecasts and developing monthly re-forecasts.
  • Supports SOX compliance and adherence to an effective internal control environment as it relates to expense planning and management processes.
  • Drives best operating practice through design and continuous improvement in processes and internal controls.
  • Provides recommendations and action plans for improvements in expense efficiencies, including cost saving opportunities.
  • Identifies complex financial problems or issues, research solutions, and implements corrective steps to achieve higher level of efficiency.
  • Advises management on various financial models and recommendations.
  • Prepares budget reports and analysis of business cost drivers.
  • Performs special projects as assigned, which may include projects beyond the scope of expense management.
  • Supports department budget managers with accounting and general ledger inquiries.
  • Acts as a resource by staff or outside departments.
  • Trains and reviews the work of other Financial Analysts.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires a BA/BS in accounting or finance and a minimum of 3 years of experience in general accounting, finance, or budget and planning; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:
  • MBA, CPA, or CMA strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and efficiently communicate results and recommendations strongly preferred.
  • Strong computer skills with an emphasis on financial analysis tools and Microsoft Office strongly preferred.
  • Complex financial forecasting and analysis skills strongly preferred.
  • Experience with managing multiple complex tasks and prioritizing in a fast-paced environment strongly preferred.
  • Expertise and experience of improving processes and utilizing technology to improve efficiencies strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others preferred.
