About Large Power Systems Division (LPSD):

We design and manufacture the most comprehensive lineup of large diesel and natural gas engines in the industry, as well as engine components and powertrains.

Job Summary:

Caterpillar in Hodges, SC has an opening for a Furnace Operator on 2nd shift. In this role, you will be responsible for charge make-up and delivery of iron. You will also set, adjust, and operate controls of one or more induction or arc furnaces to melt metal for casting purposes.

What you will do (may include, but are not limited to):

• Operates control station to monitor and control melting station
• Analyzes control signals
• Controls melting operations
• Detects deviations and initiates corrective action

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience in iron pouring, ladle repair, furnace charging and furnace operation
• Must be willing to learn or understand basic gray/ductile iron charge make-up to produce iron that meets required specifications
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to frequently lift and carry boxes weighing up to 35 pounds
• Ability to stand throughout a 10-hour shift
• Ability to operate heavy machinery and manufacturing equipment

Top candidates will also have:

• Previous machine shop, foundry, or manufacturing experience
• Problem solving and decision-making
• Math skills
• Effective communication skills

• 2nd shift hours are Monday- Friday 2PM-10:30PM

Summary Pay Range:
$19.58 - $24.86
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
