Job Summary

The Human Resources Generalist will provide HR support to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Chancellor's Office, Athletics, and Community Engagement.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with and counsels unit administrators regarding talent acquisition management, performance management, and IU HR policies and procedures.
  • Serves as human resources representative to all employees in the division.
  • Manages search and screens recruitment for staff and faculty.
  • Maintains records and develops related reports.
  • Ensures compliance with all HR-related campus policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Manages all aspects of hiring, onboarding, recruiting, and talent management for the Division.
  • Educates search committees of university hiring process and procedures.
  • Posts open positions in IU's application tracking systems.
  • Provides management on completion of all necessary hire documents including eDocs, I-9, and other university requirements to ensure compliance with University recruitment and hiring policies.
  • Manages the search and screen process for all positions in the division including: post positions, advertise, and assists search committees.
  • Works with Fiscal Officer to secure budget approval prior to initiation of any search.
  • Coordinates with departments on staff final selection and seeks campus approval of job offers.
  • Creates new offer letters and provides information to candidates as needed.
  • Coordinates hourly staff search process.
  • Manages timely completion of annual staff performance appraisals by supervisors.
  • Manages all areas of HR related document processing.
  • Runs HR related reports as needed to ensure policy compliance.
  • Represents the unit on HR related committees.
  • Collaborates with and serves as liaison to campus HR Administration.
  • Coordinates HR related trainings.
  • Prepares and presents informal HR training, job improvement, and morale booster activities for staff in accordance with departmental and campus guidelines.
  • Processes various eDocs for all staff positions.
  • Maintains human resources files for all staff.
  • Ensures the accuracy and completion of adjunct teaching contracts.
  • Maintains and updates related internal databases.
General Responsibilities
  • Counsels employees and management on various HR topics and functions; communicates and shares understanding of various human resource policies, procedures, laws, standards and other government regulations.
  • Researches, responds to, and addresses various employee relation issues such as FMLA, employee complaints, workers compensation, etc.
  • Develops in-depth knowledge and skill in various HR functions, in addition to growing knowledge in HR policies, procedures, and legal requirements to provide quality HR guidance to employees and managers.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of the business strategy and culture for RC, school or department.
  • Contributes and/or manages various HR activities, projects, or initiatives, such as recruitment, onboarding, engagement, or performance management.
  • Researches and stays up-to-date on relevant HR topics.
  • Helps foster a positive culture and work environment; ensures and promotes an environment of diversity and inclusion.
  • May conduct research and analysis for local/department HR team or COE partners and develops solutions and recommends course of action.
  • May lead small projects or activities.

Qualifications

Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.

EDUCATION

Required
  • Bachelor's degree required (degree in Human Resources preferred)

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

  • SHRM-CP/PHR within 1 year from date of hire

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary

$45,000 - $50,000 per year based on experience.
