Salary/Position Classification

• $12.00 hourly, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
• 10-20 hours per week
• 100% Remote Work Availability: No
• Hybrid Work Availability (requires some time on campus): No

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

• Assist in the implementation of planned activities that promote growth in all developmental domains. a. Set a positive example of how learning is fun. b. Assist children with activities to further their growth and development. c. Assist with set-up and clean-up of activities. - (Essential)
• Maintain strict confidentiality all children, families, and coworkers. - (Essential)
• Promote a positive and friendly atmosphere to families/individuals. a. Extends warm welcome to others by introducing self, using eye contact, using first names, and not showing favoritism to individual children, co-workers, or parents. - (Essential)
• Assist Experienced Teachers in offering support to students-in-training. a. Be a positive role model of professionalism to all employees at the Learning Center. b. Answer questions, if able, or find an experienced teacher to answer the questions - (Essential)
• Become knowledgeable of and carry out the University Children's Learning Center policies and goals as outlined in the Student Caregiver Guide. a. Become familiar with the Parent Guide. - (Essential)
• Work closely with the teachers to create a close, caring, respectful relationship with each child's family. - (Essential)
• Assist in preparation of a rich, stimulating, learning environment for children. this may require that one be able to move and carry furniture, lift 30 lb. bags of sand or rice, carry outdoor equipment indoors or outdoors. - (Essential)
• Assist in providing a healthy and safe environment. This requires that one be agile and strong. - (Essential)
• Assist in maintaining the daily routine that meets children's need for rest, nutrition, quiet and active play, both in and outdoors, throughout the day. (Requires that one be able to play comfortably on the floor, sit on the floor for long periods of time, sit in child-sized chairs at low table, hold children in one's lap, and play outdoors for long periods of time in both hot and cold weather). - (Essential)

• Complete and maintain membership in professional organizations (local, state, and national).
• Attend workshops, seminars, conferences, and enroll in college courses that promote one's professional growth.
• Practice use of ideas and knowledge acquired, sharing this information with other staff.
• Maintain familiarity and meet minimum requirements as indicated by the ND Child Care Center Early Childhood Services -Chapter 75-03-10, Licensing Rules and Regulations. Adhere to these policies to the best of your ability.
• Attend the appropriate amount of certified training annually.
• Keep current on Early Childhood Education and Child Care issues.
  Leadership
• Complete and maintain membership in professional organizations (local, state, and national).

• Upon being hired, UCLC will provide the following:
• Enrollment in North Dakota Growing Futures training program for childcare professional
  development.
• Basic childcare course from North Dakota Growing Futures called, "Getting Started" .
  This must be completed within 90 days of employment
• CPR/First Aid/AED training. This must be completed within 60 days of employment
  ND Mandated Reporter Training
• Successfully complete a Criminal Background Check - includes fingerprinting.

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. This position does not support visa sponsorship for continued employment.

• Experience working with children 3-5 years old. Experience working with children with disability.
• Focus on early childhood education, child development, elementary education, nursing, occupational therapy, or related fields.
