Under the direct supervision of the Information Technology (IT) Project Manager this position is responsible for coordinating IT project implementations. The role includes managing project documentation, schedules and reports. The IT Project Coordinator will support the IT Project Manager by coordinating project timelines, meetings and status reports to ensure the completion of deadlines and deliverables.
Responsibilities
Serve as project coordinator on assigned projects assisting the IT Project Manager during planning and implementation phases.
Meet with users to document their needs and business requirements as part of the project planning process.
Update project plans and maintain all project- related documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Collaborate with campus administrative personnel, IT staff, faculty, students, and other college constituents.
Conduct audits and reviews of project plans, schedules and meetings to promote using project management best practices.
Assist in preparing the monthly IT Project Status Report for distribution across the campus.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Identify potential project risks, assist in developing mitigation strategies, and monitor risks throughout the project.
Assist in tracking project budgets, ensuring that costs are within approved limits, and reporting any deviations to the IT Project Manager.
Ensure that project deliverables meet the required quality standards by participating in testing and validation processes.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field required. Completion of the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) is preferred.
Three years of project coordination experience preferably in IT or a related field.
Three years of experience in Information Technology in higher education, preferred.
Have a working knowledge of the processes contained in the Project Management Body of Knowledge.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures in project management.
Strong skill set using Microsoft Office tools, including Microsoft Project, Word and Excel.
Proven verbal and written communication skills to interface with all levels of faculty, staff and students. Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse campus community and assume a leadership role on project teams.
