As an Integration & Automation Engineer in Research and Development you'll provide solutions and services that help our customers protect and control critical electrical infrastructure and power systems worldwide.
As an Integration & Automation Engineer, a typical day might include the following:
- Maintain advanced technical knowledge and skills to contribute to the development and enhancement of integration and automation features in SEL products.
- Define, develop and analyze product specifications, functional tests, and system validation processes.
- Diagnose customer reported problems with integration and communication features and document issues for developers.
- Provide technical and market analysis to evaluate proposed products or enhancements.
- Mentor Associate Engineers and Technicians.
This job might be for you if:
- You have a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
- You have demonstrated experience with serial, Ethernet, and multiple communication protocols and their application in an electrical power system environment.
- You have 2+ years of experience in setup and configuration of a broad range of network devices and interfaces.
- You have 2+ years of experience at an electric utility, industrial plant, or engineering firm.
- You have the ability to work effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
- You have 2+ years of experience in electric power SCADA or EMS practices.
- You have experience contributing to product development teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Typically 2+ years of experience in electric power SCADA or EMS practices
- Knowledge of industrial controls and PLCs
- Knowledge of 3-phase and electric power systems
- Electric utility telecommunications experience
- Familiarity with and application of any of the following protocols: IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, PRP, IEEE 1588
- Knowledge of electric utility protection practices
- Working knowledge of SEL products and protocols

We anticipate filling this position as an Integration & Automation Engineer $75,000 - $108,000. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the salary range may differ if filled at a different level. Our salary ranges are determined by job, responsibility, and location. We base our starting pay offer and title on location and job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills.
