Job Summary:

Inventory Specialist - Nutrition & Food Services

Functions under the direction of the Nutrition & Food Service Manager. Receives, handles and stores food and supplies in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and applicable food safety standards. Uses computer and inventory control systems to purchase, receive, and issue groceries and supplies for the N&FS department. Meets the budgetary constraints of the department.

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Inventory Management:

• Performs daily supply assessment, replenishment and charging of N&FS supplies for Nursing and Procedural units.

• Check stock status / back orders of stock.

• Check expiration dates and rotates stock during daily replenishment.

• Retrieves, issues, and maintains minor equipment.

• Where Perpetual Inventory applicable: Processing fill stock program. Inputs all requisitions; processes and reviews all pick tickets. Enters credits and returns.

Shipping and Receiving:

• Retrieves outbound freight from customers.

• Maintains transportation log of all outbound freight.

• Receives, handles, and transports floor stock throughout the facility.

Customer Service:

• Effectively communicates with customers: Friendly and courteous.

• Meets or exceeds customers' expectations.

• Serves as a liaison between customer and supplier.

Safety and Quality:

• Conducts expiration date checks on all stock items.

• Ensures supply areas within N&FS adhere to Joint Commission regulations.

Required for All Jobs:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Qualifications:

Required Minimum Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Required Minimum Experience: Experience in supply inventory and replenishment,

stock rotation and / or food storage required. Experience in customer service required. Foodservice experience and /or healthcare experience highly preferred.

Required Minimum Skills:

Must be able to communicate and understand verbal and written English language. Must possess technical skills to operate PC and hand-held devices.

Must possess skills to interact with clinicians and other hospital staff.

Good customer relations and communication skills are essential.

Knowledge of Nutrition & Foodservice terminology highly preferred.

Ability to operate motorized pallet jack & stock room equipment highly preferred.
