Background information:
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking an IT Engineer to be based in our Fall River, MA office.
Overview:
IDT is seeking a IT Engineer to join the Undersea Warfare Systems team, that designs, implements, and maintains IT systems, ensuring reliable operations. Responsibilities will include analyzing requirements, supporting system upgrades, troubleshooting, and optimizing performance. The role requires a bachelor's degree, 3+ years of IT experience, and expertise in server installation, network troubleshooting and virtualization.
All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance.
Responsibilities Include:
- Interact with technical team members from multiple organizations in a team environment
- Perform requirements analysis, translating business needs into IT resource specifications
- Develop design documentation, testing reports, and component trade studies
- Provide direct technical support for the planning, design, and implementation of releases, upgrades, and changes to servers
- Provide direct technical support for the evaluation of test methodologies and specifications utilized to test and produce systems
- Perform workload modeling, prediction, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting to ensure stable performance of the software systems
- Contribute to the improvement of administrative and operational processes
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant field of Engineering
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a relevant technology field required
Required skills:
- Experience with physical server install/administration
- Experience troubleshooting issues of both a software and/or a hardware nature
- Experience troubleshooting network related issues at a physical and operating system level.
- Experience with well thought-out physical server configuration and cabling
- Demonstrated ability to shift from one project to another in an agile work environment
- Ability to communicate technical approaches and details within small project teams, including team interaction and presentations
- Ability to capture technical approaches, designs, block diagrams, and implementations in written and graphical form
- Experience configuring/managing RHEL Systems
- Virtualization Infrastructure Experience with VMware or similar virtualization tools
- Ability to travel approximately 15% of the time
Preferred Skills:
- Managing/configuring either Server-based or Workstation-based Operating Systems (RHEL, Ubuntu, Windows Workstation, Windows Server)
- Enterprise system engineering/administrator expertise with at least one operating system
- Experience with NFS, iSCSI, FTP, SSH, SCP, LDAP, BASH, IP, TCP, UDP, NTP, DNS, DHCP
- Networking experience - TCP/IP, DNS, NetBIOS, switching, routing, VLANs, firewalls
- Experience with Bash and/or C shell scripting
- Experience with Dell or Supermicro Servers
- Experience with Ansible, Powershell, Chef, Salt, Python, or Puppet experience is a plus
- VMWare, Red Hat, and/or Cisco certifications highly encouraged
- Security+ or equivalent IAT Level II certification highly encouraged
- Familiarity with DISA STIG or other Risk Management Framework is highly encouraged
