S/he will perform basic functions and activities involved in defined research projects, independently conduct and analyze experiments, and assist with lab management. The LSRP1 will work under general guidance from the Principal Investigator and lab members to assist in research on the cell-cell communication in the rodent nervous system and/or in brain tumor. The position involves diverse experimental approaches including isolation/culture of primary human cells, molecular biology (e.g. single-molecule FISH, immunostaining, cloning, qPCR), animal surgery, and imaging. Additional day-to-day lab functions include ordering supplies, maintaining lab stocks, and assisting the Principal Investigator with regulatory requirements and lab databases. On the job training in specific techniques will be provided, but prior experience with related techniques is desirable but not required. Applicant should be organized, detail-oriented, intellectually motivated and have excellent communication skills. The goal of this laboratory is to develop optical imaging-based approaches to understand the genetic basis underlying the complex cellular phenotypes and communication in the central nervous system, and how genetic anomality contributes to CNS disease and cancer.Duties include:
