Thread Grind Operator Shift: 3rd 11:00 PM - 7:00AM Greenfield, MA

Postion Overview:

  • Setup requires aligning of machine parts for operation sequence, select work holding and driving methods, wheels, speeds, feeds, replace, true and dress to form.
  • Setups are exacting, difficult and sometimes complicated.
  • Setup and operate machines to grind a variety of tools and sizes.
  • Produce a first piece master; check all tool specifications plus lead. Reset machine if necessary.
  • During shift produce a second piece master and check to maintain precision during remainder of shift.
  • Operator maintains production by rotating between machines. Load machines, start machines, grind cycle, automatic wheel dress, visual inspection and size pieces.
  • Diagnose and remedy minor operating and grinding difficulties such as thread angle trouble, pitch diameter, size, relief, holding bottom, chatter, and adjust oil pipes for stain, etc.
  • May also work on various pitch diameters and tapers to print using dresser required and all necessary operator machine requirements resulting from these specifications. Includes automatic synchronized fingers, synchronize for relief, grind with different kinds of relief to print specifications, size with sizing gages.

Experience:
  • Over 1 year up to and including 3 years of related experience preferred
  • Use of judgment to plan and make decisions as to the sequence of setups, operations, and processes, including minor modifications to pre-programmed computer routines within the limits of recognized or standard methods or practices.
  • Moderate physical demand with continuous lifting or moving of lightweight material and very lightweight in difficult work positions. Frequent lifting or moving average weight. Occasionally lifting or moving heavier weight.
  • Continuous mental and visual attention; usually repetitive work or diversified operations requiring constant alertness or activity.
  • Must be able to understand blueprint projections and dimensions, extract data from print to set up the machine, follow written instructions, and enter and edit on a CRT.
  • Must have the ability to explain machine problems in technical terms, have basic indexable insert cutting tool knowledge, know decimal relative values and orders of magnitude, comprehend multi-dimensional axes of motion, have basic cutting tool knowledge, make tool condition decisions, identify different types of cutting tools, know how to properly install tooling, identify and access different product programs, know how to access different individual program line blocks for data input and/or minor edits, keep tooling organized check parts for burrs and damage, visual inspect bar stock for proper size, have knowledge of tool geometries to perform machine operations, call up alarm descriptions and reference to manual, know machine interference limitations, and know individual machine code formats.
