The Benefits Manager has the responsibility of the company's benefit programs, including group life and health insurance, ESOP and 401k plans, and related programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Involved in benefit program design and strategy, presentation to executive management and vendor partners.
  • Administers benefits programs such as life, health, and dental insurance, vacation, sick leave, and employee assistance.
  • Partners with our outside vendors to analyze and recommend modifications to existing benefit plans to improve services to employees in a cost-effective manner.
  • Prepares internal employee communications regarding benefits programs and policies. Leads and facilitates benefit education programs for employee base across the company. This includes new hire material.
  • Responsible for compliance related items such as the preparation of all federal filings and compliance reports including 5500's and HIPPA notices.
  • Counsels and assists employees on matters relating to plan administration procedures and applicable company policies.
  • Leads the team in the preparation, development, and implementation of annual and new benefit initiatives, programs, and policies.
  • Keeps abreast of new legislation/regulations that impact benefit programs
  • Develops strong partnership with internal colleagues to facilitate implementations and processing of programs
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, include but not limited to compliance and operational risk.
  • Demonstrate consideration for Cenlar's reputation as well as our clients, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards. Monitors current employee benefit programs to ensure plans are meeting employee needs and company objectives. Develop plans for changes as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field required
  • Advanced degree in Human Resources a plus
  • 5 to 7 years progressive experience administering health and welfare programs
  • At least 3 years of experience administering qualified retirement plans. Working knowledge of ESOPs is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of ERISA, COBRA, Federal and State regulations
  • Ability to uphold the highest level of confidentiality
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Word and Excel
  • Understanding of the regulatory and legal environment of benefits administration
  • Professional and clear communication skills
  • Experience working in a controlled environment and effectively with vendor partners
  • Attentiveness to details and deadlines with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
