Under the direction of the Administrative Chief of Staff, the Manager, Clinical Performance is responsible for collating, interpreting, and analyzing operational datasets that will assist in the planning, monitoring, and supporting of clinical system priorities, including aligning objectives at local levels across the organization. Partner with departmental and hospital leaders and staff in the development of operational and business analyses, and management of plans and proposals in support of department and system projects. Coordinate proposals and operational plans for implementation of new initiatives across the clinical enterprise by managing collaborations, relationships, and alignment across hospital and clinical departments.

Build trust-based partnerships with leaders and teams within the UI Health Care organization, supporting teams in capitalizing on strategic clinical and operational opportunities identified by the hospital senior leadership team, through partnership and comprehensive data analyses, to support leadership evaluation of proposals. This includes helping teams execute cross-functionally aligned strategies and related tactics that meaningfully support enterprise needs and positively impact patient's lives.

The position requires the ability to think with an enterprise-wide perspective while aligning goals with local departments and have knowledge of complex systems to support the delivery of quality and safe care, effective human resources management, and coordination of change management initiatives. Must have experience and broad understanding of organizational and/or departmental processes while adept at identifying opportunities to positively impact the future. Must excel at working in a matrixed organization and possess strategic thinking skills and sound project management skills to develop, implement, and support effective and efficient business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Track clinical performance metrics; investigate discrepancies or trends and prepare justification and rationale. Participate and contribute to specific initiatives or tactics to successfully implement interventions or proposals to advance critical metrics within individual departments to contribute towards institutional priorities and goals.
  • Analyze data for all US News and World Report submissions; partner with clinical, business, and administrative partners to identify opportunities for improvement, development of action plans, partner for implementation, and track progress and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with department administrators and physician leaders in the development of key metrics to align individual department support of clinical initiatives.
  • Develop a network of relationships with administrative and physician leaders of all departments to support enterprise collaboration. Coordinate communication and support collaboration amongst staff, medical staff, and health care leadership.
  • Partner with the hospital, service line, and physician practice leaders, to recommend priorities, goals, and improvement opportunities, and monitor effectiveness and progress toward goals.
  • Help leaders provide education, resources, and data analytics; identify, support, and communicate opportunities to implement best practices; and collaborate with a variety of departments to ensure understanding and application of available tools.
  • Coordinate business development proposals and recommendations for targeted business/clinical opportunities; partner with operational leaders for effective implementation and monitoring.
  • Provide data analysis regarding clinical operations, productivity metrics, and strategic benchmarks to ensure operational, financial, and strategic initiatives are being achieved.
  • Collaborate with key strategic partners in finance, IT, nursing, Epic reporting, and clinical operations departments in the development of systemic processes for reporting consistent and accurate data.
  • Key projects will include internal coordination and collaboration with operational, analytics, and technical partners in the development of reports and presentations for internal and external constituents; development and monitoring of strategic dashboards and metric tracking; collaboration with departments/senior leaders supporting strategic projects and priorities in the Office of the CEO and Chief of Staff; analyzing and reporting on organizational rankings and development of proposal and action plans to improve.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in health care administration, business administration, finance or accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 3 years of related health care, business, or operational management experience with progressively more responsible experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with and managing relationships to influence and motivate organizational constituencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully influence key stakeholders, integrating ideas to achieve outcomes.
  • Demonstrated strong ability to translate complex data/information into simple, actionable insights.
  • Ability to manage projects across the clinical enterprise.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and computer software applications.
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively in a welcoming and respectful workplace environment.
Highly Desired Qualifications
  • Operational and/or financial management experience in an academic healthcare setting.
  • Experience working in a management position with contribution to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years), and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business or strategic plan.
  • Experience with Epic and Epic reporting (or similar electronic health record).
  • Experience with interpretation of operational analytics and reporting through Epic and Epic reporting (or similar electronic health records).
  • Demonstrated record of successfully achieving strategic, operational, and financial results.
  • Ability to demonstrate the core leadership competencies and commitments for the organization which includes striving for performance excellence.
  • Proven success in driving results and instilling accountability throughout the team and organization.
  • Proven collaborator and consensus builder
  • Experience with Graduate Medical Education.
  • Experience working in a clinical department.
Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of University and UI Health Care policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Experience managing or coordinating a program.
