JOB DESCRIPTION

Overview:

The Project Advisor will manage and coordinate large complex Global Supply Chain Projects in accordance with sound and accepted project management principles often involving multiple functional areas. The Project Advisor ensures the timely delivery of the overall project rollout whilst maintaining the integrity in the alignment to scope, timeline and budget.

In addition, the Advisor will track status for management focus, and escalation on underperforming areas and non-compliances with necessary follow up to ensure that gaps are managed and fixed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities:

Project Planning
- Build up project cost benefit analysis / justification for approval
- Responsible for budgeting and spend management of projects
- Create a detailed workplan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project and allocate resources accordingly
- Manage project staffing to successfully complete the project, including recruiting, management of contracts and assigning relevant toles and responsibilities

Project Scope Definition
- Define the scope of the project in collaboration with senior management, Operations and Technology
- Determine the resources (time, budget, resources, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project Project Team Management
- Provide strong leadership, direction and guidance to the project team, and able to work well with business and technical managers, to ensure business capability provided conforms to user requirements, while adhering to overall IT architectural roadmap

- Responsible for all-levels of stakeholder management within Operations, IT, vendors and users for projects involved

Project Risk and Issue Management
- Monitor the progress of the project, keep updates and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project
- Document risks and issues, manage and escalate to the appropriate personnel / team to ensure effective support for project is provided

Project Reporting and Review
- Lead status updates to review the project schedule with senior management and key stakeholders and all other staff that will be affected by the project activities; revise the schedule as required.
- Set up Working Committee and Steering Committee (where appropriate) to manage, monitor and get directions on the progress of the project.
- Determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion
- Monitor and get approval for all budgeted project expenditures.
- Monitor project expenses, cash flow projections and report actual cash flow and variance to senior management on a regular basis (monthly / bimonthly).
- Manage all project funds according to established accounting policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all financial records for the project are up to date.

-Update project spending status to project sponsors

Project Implementation & Evaluation
- Execute the project according to the project plan.
- Maintain forms, templates and records to document project activities
- Set up project team central repository
- Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of the project
- Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards
- Evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase as well as actual implementation issues.
- Project Closure - Build learning lessons from actual project implementation, review and make recommendations for future project improvements

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

General Education
- Degree or Diploma in disciplines related to Business Management, Project Management or Supply Chain and Logistics

EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years of relevant work experiences in managing projects, and a proven track record of successfully leading and delivering operational and systems implementation with end-users in different countries/regions
- Advanced Project Management and Facilitation Skills

Managerial Experience
-Solid experience in successfully leading project teams

Bilingual English/Spanish required.

Candidates must be within 250 miles of an APL Logistics facility or office.

The typical starting salary range for this position is: $88,130 - $142,200.

The actual salary offer will take into account multiple factors including skills, experience, education and location. Please note that the salary details listed in role postings reflect the base salary only, not total compensation, which includes bonus and benefits.
