Job Description Summary
Reporting directly to the Director, US Region Marketing, this associate will support the development and execution of integrated marketing campaigns and communications tactics to drive US Region Strategic Marketing commercial strategy. This will include translating marketing and business objectives into marketing communication strategies that are impactful, relevant, and measurable, as well as managing the work of internal and external agencies. Function as "creative translator" to interpret business/marketing needs and preferences in a way that enable agencies to deliver high-quality, effective creative strategies and impactful, integrated tactics. Support the creative development process, including creative concepts and message development to ensure alignment with brand essence and product/solution positioning and core messages.

Associate is responsible for overseeing all aspects of creative and project management ensuring deliverables are on time and within budget. Ensures compliance to BD Quality and MarCom operational policies and procedures relative to the US region. Individual is responsible for campaign expense management, and for the accurate reporting of budgets and ROI on a regular basis.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support the annual marketing and strategic planning processes with clear communications plans and budgets as well as owning presentation development.
  • Function as liaison with internal and external communication services to drive strategic priorities and tactical execution - this includes leading cross functional teams, e.g. creative agencies, marcom and marketing associates, etc.
  • Drive standardization of brand messaging, positioning and core value offers across the region that ladder up to overarching commercial strategies. Create, rationalize & update existing US collateral as necessary
  • Develop creative briefs as necessary, and review creative concepts to ensure effective alignment with business goals, marketing objectives and BD brand identity. Facilitate constructive dialogue between marketing stakeholders and creative team / agencies.
  • Develop and execute US region tradeshow communications strategy and media plan - Report results
  • Gain approval of communications pieces from medical, legal, and regulatory review process. Ensure copy approval process is followed in accordance with BD policy
  • Maintain ongoing relationship with regional Business Unit marketers and marketing communications associates. Stay informed about competitive environment and healthcare trends impacting our industry.
  • Maintain ongoing relationship with media and external creative agencies. Develop and maintain a pool of reliable, highly skilled creative services agencies
  • Manage assigned communications budget by overseeing the processing and reporting of all expenses.


About You:

Education and Experience
  • Requires 3-5 years medical industry communications experience, including expertise in marketing communications
  • Bachelor's degree required in related field, i.e. Communications and/or Marketing. Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience in communications planning, working with creative agencies, development of positioning & messaging, managing print production, photo and video shoots, and design projects is mandatory.
  • Marketo, Showpad, Salesforce skills are required.
  • Candidates must be able to work onsite in our Franklin Lakes, NJ office 4 days a week.
  • Ability to travel as needed.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Honed Tactical Skills ranging from customer needs identification/definition, development of creative briefs, tradeshow management, media management - print, web, etc.,
  • Excellent organization skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines in an environment of competing priorities. Ability to routinely work on multiple tasks with multiple people while effectively prioritizing.
  • Demonstrated Analytical Strength in project costing and ROI modeling.
  • Strong Customer Focus including value proposition development, needs identification, training development, experience in the field with sales force and customers, and a bias towards responsiveness
  • Track record of Creativity in new idea generation and customer needs identification
  • Excellent oral and written Communications, active listening skills, effective team player and team leader
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills for a wide variety of audiences.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills and Emotional Intelligence that has resulted in positive relationship building, cultural savvy, openness, and good team work, all with a high degree of ethical standards
  • Sound decision making capabilities and the ability to make decisions in uncertain or risky situations, even in the absence of consensus, when necessary.
  • Managerial courage to speak up when important information or questions must be raised and takes action when issues must be addressed.
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to formulate and implement bold marketing and communications strategies, convert these into tactical plans, and deliver results.
  • Creative out-of-the-box mindset, is intellectually curious, stays current on new trends, and takes calculated risks with novel ideas.
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to utilize organizational channels, experience and influencing skills to effectively negotiate and persuade others.
