We're the sole designer, builder and refueler of U.S. Navy nuclear aircraft carriers and one of two providers of U.S. Navy nuclear submarines. Our diverse and innovative team of professionals ranges from skilled trades to project managers, engineers and software developers to solution architects, technical subject matter experts, and system users. Anchored in our rich, 135-year history, we collaborate together at the forefront of technology, manufacturing, and integration of the most powerful and survivable naval ships in the world. Want to be part of the team? Apply today! We look forward to meeting you.

The Role

The Advanced Propulsion team is seeking a highly skilled and motivated leader to oversee the development and optimization of steam plant and reactor plant systems for the next generation of fast attack submarines, including future VIRGINIA Class and SSNX. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the design and enhancement of systems, improving performance, cost, and maintainability, for what will become the Navy's premier attack submarine platform.

As an engineering manager, you will be responsible for technical oversight, work management, and leadership of an experienced and developing group of engineers. This position is a perfect blend of new design work and leadership development, providing you with an opportunity to grow both professionally and personally. The successful candidate will have a well-established relationship with Electric Boat, Naval Nuclear Laboratory, and Naval Reactors or the ability to build one, as collaboration on design products is vital to the role's success.

Join us in shaping the future of fast attack submarines and making a significant contribution to the Navy's capabilities. If you are a highly skilled and motivated leader with a passion for engineering excellence, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.

Must Have

Nice to Have

The most successful candidate will have the following:
1. Specific knowledge of the design of VCS, SEAWOLF, and SSN 688 Class submarines and an understanding of how technical requirements vary between the different classes. Additional knowledge of CVN 68 and CVN 78 Class design is a plus.
2. Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program operational and maintenance experience for either submarines or aircraft carriers.
3. Experience with or an understanding of the interdisciplinary interactions and program management necessary to successfully lead a new design program.
4. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to support the development and presentation of technical reports and briefs to internal and external stakeholder leadership.
