The Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency https://www.laora.org/ at the University of Miami/UHealth is currently seeking a full time Organ Allocation Coordinator 2. The Organ Allocation Coordinator 2 coordinates the allocation of donated organs to transplant centers. The Organ Allocation Coordinator 2 acts as the primary liaison with the transplant centers, research facilitates, hospital personnel, and recovery site personnel. This position assists in the training of staff and functions as the AOC during shifts
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Coordinates the staff in the operating room for local procurements and abroad (i.e., requiring flight transportation) with clinical recovery and preservation of organs for transplantation, and undertakes extensive communications with transplant center, according to established guidelines.
2. Makes the necessary call to transplant centers to place the kidneys and pancreas, according to the UNOS requirements. This process requires exercising clinical judgment and a good fundamental knowledge of organ viability to allow for efficient and effective organ placement practices.
3. Maintains current knowledge and enforces legal requirements of organ donation.
4. Works according to a call schedule of assigned duties and hours and remain within pager radius to assure that response to all pages will occur in a timely fashion.
5. Provides familiarity with all medical aspects of organ donation and bring any questions to the attention of the administrator involved.
6. Has a basic knowledge of the donor medical requirements and contraindications.
7. Accurately collects, records, and maintains clinical records of donors and recipients as required by the program in accordance with UNOS and CMS standards and requirements..
8. Responsible and accountable for assigned procurement equipment and supplies.
9. Maintains a current list of contact numbers of all appropriate UM LAORA/ Transplant personnel and updates list as needed. This list will be utilized to contact appropriate personnel based on perfusionist's logistical knowledge of organ donation/recovery process in a timely manner.
10. Keeps UM LAORA Associate Director of Recovery and Allocation apprised of all local and import organ activity
11. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Associates degree in relevant field
Certification and Licensing:
CPTC Certification
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
