Job Summary

This licensed clinician provides trauma-informed counseling to IU students affected by sexual and intimate partner violence, including sexual assault, abuse, and stalking. With a focus on individual counseling and resource connection, the role prioritizes outreach to historically excluded identities to foster help-seeking behaviors and disrupt harmful narratives. The clinician practices within a multicultural framework aligned with the Office of Student Life¿s mission to promote care and belonging.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Provides direct clinical services, including crisis appointments for students following recent sexual assault and ongoing counseling for those impacted by sexual or relationship violence.
  • Utilizes evidence-based clinical interventions and document clinical notes and consultations in a timely, accurate manner in accordance with CAPS policies.
  • Maintains ethical practice by adhering to HIPAA, professional ethical standards, and state regulations.
  • Consults and collaborates with other professionals and campus resources, such as CAPS psychiatrists, IU Health Center providers, dietitians, academic support services, career services, cultural centers, and Confidential Victim Advocates, to support clients holistically.
  • Practices from a culturally inclusive framework, engaging in case consultations and continuing education, and align professional conduct with the values of the Office of Student Life.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, clinical teams, and departmental committees.
  • Contributes to a respectful, supportive workplace by giving and receiving feedback constructively.
  • Provides emergency service coverage as needed, support major outreach events, and represent CAPS and SACS in tabling events or presentations for student groups.
  • Fulfills other duties as assigned by the Director.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required
  • Master's degree from an accredited Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, Clinical or Counseling Psychology, or Couples and Family Therapy program
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 3 years post-degree experience.
  • 2 years of demonstrated work with survivors; can include internship or field placement settings
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES

Required
  • Clinically licensed to practice independently; licensed in Indiana within 60 days of hiring

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
