The BioDiscovery Institute was established in 2016 as an Institute of Research Excellence at the University of North Texas under the Division of Research and Innovation. The BioDiscovery Institute delivers fundamental research solutions to underpin the utilization of living systems for the production of polymers, oils and additives, chemical feedstocks, composite materials, proteins and other macromolecules, bioactive molecules, and even bio-based fuels. Researchers in the institute operate through pipelines that link sustainable production platforms, metabolic engineering, and the development of new products and technologies. The institute touts a multidisciplinary team of scientists committed to collaborating on large research projects with an emphasis on solutions to societal needs.

Position Overview
The Henard Laboratory in The BioDiscovery Institute and the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team. The laboratory's research focuses on the physiology and metabolism of methanotrophic bacteria to guide the development of biotechnologies targeting conversion of waste gas to valuable "green" products. The postdoctoral researcher will work on projects aimed at developing advanced genetic tools for engineering methanotrophic bacteria to maximize carbon assimilation and conversion. We seek applicants with broad knowledge of molecular and synthetic biology tools and techniques.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biological or Chemical Engineering, or closely related field.
Ability to design and conduct experiments both independently and collaboratively as needed.
Research experience in metabolic engineering and synthetic biology.
Demonstrated experience working with non-model microbes, preferably bacteria.
Strong record of quality peer-reviewed publications.
Preferred Qualifications
Research experience in computational biology, bioinformatics, biological systems modeling, flux balance analysis, and machine learning.
Analytical chemistry experience with HPLC, GC, GC- and/or LC-MS
