Position Overview: This position is responsible for implementing and advancing Agile methodologies and thought leadership across the organization. The incumbent works with all levels of the organization to enhance and improve the organizational Agile acumen and mindset, bringing about transformational change related to scaling Agile development and DevOps practices. Applies servant leadership to improve and enable teams to deliver high value results against the most complex business and technology initiatives ensuring business processes are in alignment with the specific needs and regulations of the financial industry. This position offers a hybrid work option up to 50% remote, and is open to any Compeer office location in Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Essential Functions:


  • Agile Adoption and Leadership
    • Guides and influences all levels of the organization (Senior Leadership, BT, Strategy/Innovation, Org Change Readiness, and Process Improvement) through the cultural change to successfully mature the Agile mindset and methodologies based on industry best practices.
    • Trains and coaches the organization's leadership and BT development teams to analyze current systems and processes, and designs an Agile Transformation strategy to be implemented.
    • Consults on and provides thought leadership to BT leaders to design and promote a scalable agile transformation.
    • Designs and influences Agile principles, Scrum practices and the overall operating model across the organization.
    • Collaborates with teams to inspect, adapt, and improve agile practices over time.
    • Develops and leads a culture of continuous improvement for the Agile delivery process and partners with BT leaders to define strategy for improvements for BT teams to feel empowered to innovate and take risks.
    • Proactively facilitates collaboration cross-departmentally to ensure alignment towards organizational goals and objectives.
    • Contributes to strategic planning and decision-making at the executive level to align operational activity with organizational objectives.
    • Defines, designs and implements continuous improvement programs to create empowered, self-organizing, and high-performing teams.

  • Training, Mentoring and Process Improvement
    • Coaches teams on Agile techniques to stay on course, fine-tuning their approach to ensure that overall strategy is being met.
    • Provides one-on-one coaching to individuals at all levels of the organization to improve their agile mindset and practices.
    • Designs, develops and leads Agile workshops for developer and functional teams, as well as key stakeholders.
    • Promotes a culture of continuous improvement, setting goals and milestones and assigning responsibility.
    • Designs, develops and leads training and development to teams through individual and team coaching on practices, tools, principles and values.
    • Develops and deploys appropriate improvement and coaching plans to build self-organizing teams.
    • Encourages and supports teams in continuous reflection and improvement, enhancing their effectiveness and optimizing their processes. Facilitates process improvements by conducting agile maturity assessments and partners with leadership teams to design and implement improvement plans.

  • Metrics and Performance Management
    • Establishes and implements metrics to optimize team delivery and measure business agility in terms of predictability, reliability and adaptability.
    • Demonstrates measurable and continued improvements in team agility and productivity validated through data metrics.
    • Performs ongoing assessments of team agile maturity with recommended action towards change where needed.
    • Ensures Agile development metrics are being tracked, monitored and reported on for indications of potential problem areas and assist teams in identifying and implementing solutions to address the problems.
    • Leads Agile teams through product framing and discovery, including defining business KPIs, product vision, user story mapping, and other framing activities.
    • Tracks and reports on key Agile performance metrics to demonstrate the value and effectiveness of Agile methodologies to the organization.

  • Industry Expertise
    • Keeps abreast of industry trends and best practices for enhancing the practice.
    • Attends conferences, researches industry trends, reads articles and books and participates in relevant online communities.
    • Builds and mains a strong reputation among leaders and team members as an expert in Agile Leadership, driving agile transformations effectively.

Minimum Qualifications & Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the US. Compeer is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in implementing Agile methodologies, with a solid understanding of Lean, Agile and DevOps principles.
  • Possess one or more of the following certifications or equivalent: Certified Enterprise Coach (CEC), SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), Certified Scrum @ Scale Trainer, Certified Scrum Trainer (CST), Professional Scrum Trainer (PST).
  • Expert experience as an Agile Coach, Scrum Master, or similar role in software development teams.
  • Expert experience in Agile methodologies like Scrum, Kanban, Lean, etc. ideally in various roles such as Scrum Master or Product Owner.
  • Expert knowledge of Agile techniques such as user stories, continuous integration, TDD, continuous testing, pairing, automated testing, etc.
  • Expert experience with Agile project management tools like Azure Dev Ops, Atlassian suite, Jira, etc.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Solid understanding of financial industry regulations and standards.
  • Prior experience in the financial industry is preferred.
  • Advanced experience leading the adoption, implementation, and improvement of agile methodologies within an organization.
  • Demonstrable experience in coaching, mentoring, and teaching Agile practices to different roles and levels in an organization.
  • Demonstrable ability to create and influence culture across the organization to ensure effective development of Agile capabilities.
  • Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships.
  • High level of integrity.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office applications and customer relationship management (CRM) programs.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing situations.
  • Ability to remain objective in balancing business needs and risk.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other teams to achieve goals and represent the business.
  • Valid driver's license.
