Residential Coordinator - (M-F 4P - 12A)

The Residential Coordinator is responsible for providing day to day supervision of Residential Counselors as well as coordinating with the Rehabilitation Director to ensure clinical supervision of staff. He/she is also responsible for ensuring that direct services are provided which promote the ability of clients to participate in community activities and which contribute to the client's development and utilization of skills necessary for independent living. The Residential Coordinator is responsible for driving and/or transporting clients.

The Residential Coordinator may be required to perform the duties of the Residential Counselors. Additionally, the Residential Coordinator will ensure that at a minimum, each living environment meets the standards of a residential site as established by applicable regulations and is in compliance with relevant federal, State or local ordinances, laws regulations and orders, including zoning and safety.

**Shift: M-F 4:00 PM - 12:00 AM

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Mental Health, or related area, from an accredited college or university; or license as a Registered Nurse and two years of experience working with persons with chronic mental illness, including some supervisory experience, is preferred. At a minimum, the successful candidate must possess a high school or equivalency diploma and a minimum of three years experience working in a mental health and/or social service field. Post high school education and experience in the field totaling 2 years may be substituted. At least one year of supervisory experience is required of all candidates.

OTHER:

  • This position requires driving your personal vehicle for company business. Must be privileged to drive according to the criteria set forth by Agency MVR guidelines.
    • Valid drivers license in jurisdiction of residence
    • Vehicle liability coverage if driving personal vehicle (on occasion, may be required to transport clients in personal vehicle)
    • May be required to drive a van
  • Acceptable Criminal background check, OIG Exclusion check
  • Negative Drug Screening
  • CPR/First Aid Certification must be acquired and maintained once employed

PRINCIPLE ACTIVITIES:
  • Assist in the recruiting, training, scheduling, and evaluation of staff, as appropriate.
  • Ensures that client home(s) is/are maintained in compliance with applicable policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Participates in the assessment of client service needs and in the development, implementation and monitoring of the IRP as appropriate.
  • Ensures that the appropriate staff coverage is provided at all times and that emergency and on-call coverage is always available to clients for whom he/she has responsibility.
  • Performs the duties of Residential Counselor as necessary.
  • Provides crisis intervention services as necessary.
  • Monitors record keeping.
  • Serves as liaison between the community and the program.
  • Conducts and attends monthly in-house, program, staff, and training meetings as required. Ensures that staff, volunteers and interns under his/her supervision receive orientation and quarterly training as required. Documents training as required.
  • Participates in the development and licensure of new homes as appropriate. Ensures that residential environments are 'home-like'.
  • Oversees the monitoring of client medication. Monitors the MARS for errors, monitors the weekly medication count sheets to ensure residents don't run out of medication.
  • 12 Ensures that staff privileged to do so provide basic health teaching in areas including nutrition, exercise, dental care, substance abuse prevention, prevention of injury and illness at home and in the community, and the prevention of communicable disease, including the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases and blood borne pathogens including, HIV/AIDS.
  • Implements VOAC policies and procedures and assures program compliance.
  • In conjunction with the Rehabilitation Director, ensures that staff are qualified to perform rehabilitative services.
  • Collects and maintains data and prepares reports as required.
  • Drive on company business and/or transporting clients as required. Ensures assigned vehicles are maintained appropriately.
  • Participates in and oversees preparation of billing documentation.
  • Provides on-call as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • The ability to safely operate a motor vehicle to transport oneself, consumers, and program supplies as necessary.
  • The physical ability to travel to assigned locations, stand, stoop, bend, reach, pull, push, lift, grasp, climb, talk, see, hear and perform basic and light home maintenance activities, and operate office equipment.
  • Operating office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements.
  • The ability to remain in a sitting position for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally, ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

EFFECT ON END RESULT:
  • Services are provided that address clients' rehabilitative service needs.
  • Clients participate safely and more independently in activities of community life.
  • VOAC policies and procedures are implemented and programmatic requirements are met.
  • Appropriate support is provided to Residential Counselors to ensure that assigned duties are carried out.
