Hourly Rate: $39.80 - $45.05

Purpose

Utilize analytical and technical abilities to analyze and investigate energy diversion and meter tampering, providing critical deliverables that impact the revenue operations of the company. Understands and interprets requests for information and executes appropriate analysis to meet requests. Contributes and supports team members in a cross functional environment. May deliver presentations of results both internally and externally, including to regulatory, internal audit, financial, and revenue recovery representatives. This role will serve as a safety net for the organization's revenue stream. Theft and fraud detection responsibilities will help reduce revenue loss and will help promote a safe electric system free of any hazards because of such tampering and theft.

Key Responsibilities

Objectives as assigned by the supervisor:

Support the role of Revenue Protection/Security Senior Investigator.

This will include:

• Assisting in the research for investigations (including civil and criminal) associated with
• potential diversion of electrical energy, fraud, identity theft, deceptive business practices
• and other forms of potential revenue loss from initial notification to final billing and/or
• prosecution.
• Interviewing, data/evidence gathering, summarizing statements of facts, testimony and depositions, utilization of internal or external resources (such as legal, law enforcement or local officials), calculation of revenue loss and energy loss, documentation, tracking, and reporting of case data including detailed police reports, photographs, and exhibits.
• Providing support in all reports by reviewing all cases for potential fraud, deceptive business practices, identify theft or other related revenue loss activities.
• Keeping records and documenting all incidents within Case Management and case files from general info to complete documentation including a final case report to be utilized during prosecution.
• Calculating amount of energy loss and/or determine loss revenue.
• Providing support in negotiations with a customer for payment arrangements and ensure customer is billed for loss revenue.
• Assist in the determination for appropriate course of action in all cases and follow through to completion.
• Analyze data for potential lost revenue or energy and help determine proactive means of identifying energy diversion. Gather all forms of data relevant to an investigation (i.e., research records, legal documents, medical, financial and document results).
• Conduct civil and criminal investigations related to energy theft, fraud, identity theft or other deceptive business practices including various forms of revenue loss.
• Interface effectively with external groups including law enforcement, legal, local officials, and the consumer.
• Utilize strong computer skills with a demonstrated ability to produce detailed reports required for law enforcement professionals.
• Utilize Strong investigative skill sets required with demonstrated experience in fraud, identity theft, and deceptive business practice investigations.
• Ability to research, conduct investigations including phone interviews, depositions and gathering evidence.

Skills and Requirements

• SAP experience required.
• Strong oral and written communication skills along with strong computer and analytical skills is required.
• De-escalation training and abilities are a must.
• An associate degree in criminal justice, business (may include Fraud Management, Economic Crime or Law), electrical engineering, or criminal justice, or a valid E-1 or E-2 electrical license in the state of Connecticut is preferred. Experience in electrical metering applications including transformer rated metering also desirable.
• Certifications/training from investigative courses, law enforcement organizations, fraud or identity theft, or electrical groups helpful.
