The Safety Trainer role at Caterpillar, is an entry level position to the Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) team with an emphasis on training. You will be required to successfully complete various Train the Trainer courses and conduct training on subjects such as Power Industrial Trucks, Cranes, Fall Protection, New Hire Safety Orientation, Safe Job Procedures (SJPs) and other trainings as assigned.

Third Shift Hours: 11:00pm - 7:00am

Job Duties:

The Safety Trainer is responsible for completing PSLD site safety training programs and working with the EH&S team to develop and execute plans to achieve specific training compliance goals.

This team member will be the primary trainer for the shift and be responsible for conducting safety trainings as well as maintaining detailed records for these classes. As part of the Clayton, OH Product Support & Logistics Division (PSLD) the role is responsible for the entire facility while reporting to the Safety Supervisor and EHS Manager. The ideal candidate needs to be self-motivated while occasionally working unsupervised. Previous experience training or teaching others is a plus but is not required. Applicant needs to be in good standing with a good safety record and willing to work in a Servant-based leadership role; you will lead by example.

Performs various assignments to support management of site and contractor safety and environmental programs.

Supports Site PSLD EH&S Team in variety of other duties such as but not limited to:

• EH&S Training Execution/ Tracking
• Powered Industrial Truck Program Management

Basic Qualifications:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Other strengths include patience, attention to detail and accountability.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• The ability to compose, write, and communicate safety-related information.
• Strong teamwork skills needed, including the ability to work effectively with all employees.
• Must be self-starter, i.e. quick learner and able to research and learn on his/her own.
• Fluent working with computers and Microsoft Office programs.
• Experience working with or in a safety department for safety projects or campaigns.
• Proven experience in effectively facilitating team meetings and conducting training programs.
• A basic knowledge of standard OSHA requirements.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

• At least 6 months to one year of prior EHS experience, OR
• At least 1 year of teaching or training others

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to frequently lift and carry boxes weighing up to 50 pounds for intervals of 15-30 minutes.
• Work in an environment with frequently changing temperatures
• Walk, squat, and bend over for intervals of 15-30 minutes, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Operate pneumatic tools
• Operate forklift, cherry pickers, etc.
