Job Description

Scientist I

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Manufacturing Scientist to join our dynamic team. This position requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or equivalent. The successful candidate must possess general chemical laboratory skills, with experience in one or more of organic, particles, quantum dots, and conjugation chemistry considered a strong advantage.

What will you do?

  • Manufacture latex and quantum dot particles-based reagents following manufacturing batch records, standard operating protocols, and work instructions.
  • Conduct chemical analysis and characterization of intermediates and finish products as required.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of products meet customer requirements.
  • Occasionally assist in repetitive task such as aliquoting reagents, vialing and labeling of products.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Education
  • Minimum of BS/BA Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or related subject area.
Experience
  • 6 months+ relevant working experience
  • Proficient in general chemical laboratory techniques and procedures such as rotary evaporation, pipetting, UV-vis and emission spectroscopy and safe handling of chemicals including organic solvents.
  • Experience in one or more of organic, particles, quantum dots, and conjugation chemistry is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure and be able to multi-task.
  • Proven ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Outstanding attention to detail.
Physical Requirements

The position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about office locations; the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights 20-50 pounds, occasionally. Some work requires strong eye coordination and arm, hand, and finger dexterity.
