Senior Finance Manager and Change Director - US National Accounts

US National Accounts Finance team, strives to drive business performance across the Strategic business units(SBUs) and lines of businesses. We partner with the SBUs enabling them to serve our customers better, create positive impact and define and execute business strategy tied with financial plans. We are open to hiring talent in one of the following locations: Schaumburg or Chicago.

As the Senior Finance Manager and Change Director, you will have two main responsibilities. In the business as usual role, you will direct, develop and implement accounting operations and have the controller responsibility of the insurance revenues. This includes translating accounting policies into procedures, defining standardized financial process, effective controls and overseeing accounting operations to ensure timely, complete and accurate accounting. You will also participate in the month-end / quarter-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with our standards and reporting requirements.

This role will also assume the Project Director responsibilities for Finance transformation initiatives to modernize the systems, data and processes which enable financial accounting of the insurance and reinsurance premiums and establish end to end premium lineage.

Key Accountabilities:

The role comprises of a Business as usual as well as a Project responsibilities:

Business As Usual:

  • Controller responsible to the BU Level Financial Accounting & Reporting with specific focus on insurance revenues - direct and ceded premiums and commissions for US National Accounts.
  • Responsible to oversee financial booking operations ensuring that all transactions and (re)insurance contracts are coded accurately and completely. Provide guidance on accounting for complex contracts and structures.
  • Responsible for coordinating the entire production process, including the activities performed by the service centers.
  • Responsible for financial supervision of the accounting operations for premiums and commissions including timely accruals.
  • Proactively seek operational and internal control improvements in the accounting team.

Project Director:

  • Assume the role of Business Lead & Project Director for the End to End Premium lineage project and ensure successful and timely implementation of the initiatives under the umbrella program.
  • Active scope, delivery and risk management of the project working with various stakeholders of different background including Underwriting, Reinsurance, Operations and Financial Accounting.
  • People management responsibilities included.

  • Business Travel, as required
  • Extended Hours during Peak Periods, as required
  • Regular Predictable Attendance

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and 10 or more years of experience in the Accounting or Audit or Finance area


Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA Preferred or an equivalent University degree
  • Project management experience in Finance Transformation
  • Experience in insurance finance and finance transformation strongly preferred
  • Technical accounting and/or audit experience
  • Advanced general ledger transactional experience
  • Leadership experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong influencing and persuasion skills

Additional rewards may encompass short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. We encourage candidates with salary expectations beyond the provided range to apply, as they will be considered based on their experience, skills, and education. The salary indicated represents a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for geographic differentials pertaining to the location where the position may be filled. The proposed salary range for this position is $146,500.00 - $239,800.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 25%.
