Summary:

This role is critical in ensuring smooth international freight operations for our company. You'll be the central point of contact, overseeing all aspects of import and export shipments. Responsibilities include planning, execution, tracking, documentation, and cost management. You'll identify risks and opportunities, collaborate with internal and external partners, and drive continuous improvement within the department.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement import/export policies and procedures (e.g., bookings, documentation, cost records).
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure material availability and avoid delays.
• Manage relationships with freight agents to ensure efficient and timely deliveries.
• Track shipments domestically and internationally, expediting critical orders when necessary.
• Create and manage shipping documents using our ERP system.
• Process import/export documents and submit them to customs brokers for filing.
• Analyze invoices and identify discrepancies in pricing or charges.
• Manage carrier rates, requesting quotes and updating rate schedules.
• Assist with contract reviews, negotiations, and data collection for RFPs.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with external partners and colleagues.
• Enter data accurately into various internal systems.
• Provide support to other logistics personnel and the Import/Export Manager.
• Participate in RFP development and execution.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related field (preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in import/export logistics, including trucking and ocean freight.
• Familiarity with international trade regulations (US customs experience a plus).
• Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel).
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, working independently and collaboratively.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Adaptability to changing processes and a commitment to innovation.
