Position: Software Engineer III

Job Location: 702 SW 8th St, Bentonville, AR 72716

Duties: Assists in providing guidance to small groups of two to three engineers, including offshore associates, for assigned Engineering projects by proving pertinent documents, directions, examples, and timeline. Provides support to the business by responding to user questions, concerns, and issues (for example, technical feasibility, implementation strategies); researching and identifying needed solutions; determining implementation designs; providing guidance regarding implications of new and enhanced systems; identifying short and long term solutions; and directing users to appropriate contacts for issues outside of associate's domain. Manages small to large-sized complex projects by reviewing project requirements; translating requirements into technical solutions; researching and identifying alternative solutions; determining needed solution based on return on investment and value add to the business; gathering requested information (for example, design documents, product requirements, wire frames); writing and developing code; conducting unit testing; communicating status and issues to team members and stakeholders; collaborating with project team and cross functional teams; identifying areas of opportunity; interpreting information and identifying a solution; ensuring solution is sustainable across implementation and use; troubleshooting open issues and bug-fixes; and ensuring on-time delivery and hand-offs. Troubleshoots business and production issues by gathering information (for example, issue, impact, criticality, possible root cause); performing root cause analysis to reduce future issues; engaging support teams to assist in the resolution of issues; developing solutions; driving the development of an action plan; performing actions as designated in the plan; interpreting the results to determine further action; and completing online documentation. Participates in the discovery phase of small to medium-sized projects to come up with high level design by partnering with the product management, project management, business, and user experience teams.

Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or the equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. Position does not require specific years of experience but requires listed skills.

Skills required: Must have experience with: Designing, coding, testing, and debugging java applications using Object-Oriented programming language JAVA; Designing and developing applications on Event driven Architecture; Designing and testing Relation Database Management systems such as MySQL; Integrating and developing processes and tools such as Jenkins, Maven, and Docker; Developing, deploying, and managing java applications on Kubernetes clusters including configuring deployment manifests, managing pods and Kubernetes resources; Designing and developing RESTful APIs to enable communications between frontend and backend systems, including defining API endpoints, request and response structures and integrating with third-party API's when necessary; Integrating the backend system with external systems, such as messaging platforms and or other third-party services, and implementing the necessary integration logic; Writing Unit tests, integration tests and performance tests of the backend java code to ensure its reliability and functionality as well as debugging and fixing issues identified during QA and Production issues; Designing and developing scalable applications with Apache Kafka as a messaging system, including determining the appropriate Kafka components, such as topics, partitions, consumer groups; Utilizing git and GitHub to manage source code version control as well as creating and managing of repositories; Collaborating with stakeholders, product owners and business analysts to gather and analyze software requirement and documenting the requirements for further development; Designing, building, and deploying containerized applications using Docker, including creating docker images, defining container configurations and ensuring compatibility with Kubernetes environments; Designing and architecting the microservices-based SAAS platform on clouds such as Amazon Web Services, Azure cloud etc. and identifying the boundaries and responsibilities of each microservice, defining communication protocols and APIs and ensuring scalability, fault tolerance and performance; Using JIRA to capture, manage and track project requirements, including creating user stories, documenting acceptance criteria; and Using project documentation tools such as Confluence etc., as a collaborative workspace for documentation, including creating and maintaining project documentation and specifications.
