The Special Collections and Engagement Librarian at The Latin American Library (LAL) combines subject expertise, knowledge of archival standards, and familiarity with digital initiatives to process and provide access to collections in Latin American, Caribbean and Diasporic Studies. This position works closely and shares duties with a team of LAL librarians. In collaboration with the Curator of Special Collections, they participate in all phases of processing the LAL's wide range of primary sources in many formats, including accessioning, arranging, describing, cataloging, and preservation. With LAL librarians, they create online exhibits and publications, develop the LAL's online presence, engage in presentations, instructional sessions, and contributes to other outreach activities. This position serves on library committees, collaborates and coordinates activities with other Tulane Libraries units, and actively participates in national and international professional and scholarly associations. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Competence in Portuguese or willingness to acquire competency.· Training in archival science or prior experience working in an archive.· Experience working with digital projects and tools. REQUIRED BACKGROUND CHECK, PHYSICAL, AND DRUG SCREENING FOR INCUMBENTS WHO HAVE CONTACT OR EXPOSURE TO ANIMALS OR ANIMAL TISSUES:Selected candidates must complete and pass a background check and an occupational health screening as a condition of employment. For identified jobs, a drug screening will also be required. The background investigation required occupational health screening, and any required drug screening will be conducted after a conditional employment offer has been extended.
