Position Summary:

The Pharma Services Group partners with pharmaceutical and biotech customers around the world to ensure the right patients get the right therapies in the right doses at the right time - a concept that we internally embrace as "There is a Patient Waiting." Our outstanding blend of services includes project management, packaging, distribution, transportation management and specialty logistics, ancillary supply management, clinical supply optimization, bio-repository storage and much more.

This remote position will drive trade compliance excellence across the Americas region (North, Central and South America) as defined by adherence to applicable laws and regulations pertaining to international trade. In addition, the position will ensure compliance with Thermo Fisher Scientific corporate, group and local policies through the development of appropriate work procedures and management of applicable global trade compliance systems. There are a wide variety of activities involved in this position requiring excellent organizational skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues in a fast paced environment. A high degree of flexibility to respond to changing priorities is important. The chosen candidate will focus on strategic management of import/export personnel and various trade compliance projects, including working with site management and senior leadership to identify and resolve compliance gaps.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide GTC leadership to PSG businesses and raise the overall level of knowledge and proficiency of trade compliance resources by developing and implementing standard methodologies available from industry, governmental and Thermo Fisher programs.
  • Build awareness of global trade compliance by conducting training and performing internal audits/assessments as needed.
  • Ensure that the business has written, up-to-date work procedures to align with local and US trade regulations and corporate policy.
  • Stay up-to-date on pertinent regulations and respond accordingly to update all affected functions, personnel, and the applicable leadership teams affected by changes.
  • Provide accurate and timely advice to internal and external customers regarding trade compliance matters.
  • Interact effectively with multiple functional areas including senior management, supply chain, logistics, sales, project management, finance, HR, IT and legal.
  • Lead and assist with projects that increase compliance, improve customer satisfaction, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop and implement compliance policies specific to trade compliance changes due to current and future free trade legislation and local policy changes in the region.
  • Assure that contracts (and distributorship and sales representation agreements) include provisions for compliance with applicable export statutes and regulations (and for termination or cancellation if applicable laws or regulations preclude export).
  • Act as GTC liaison with EHS/QC/Regulatory teams to acquire and disseminate applicable Partner Government Agencies (PGA) required documents or information for appropriate Customs clearance.

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or proven track record in global trade, supply chain, international operations, or logistics over a 10+ year period.
  • Demonstrated understanding of basic Project Management principles.
  • Skills for research and investigative work.
  • Collaborative, open management style that encourages participation and contribution from others.
  • Possess the ability to work autonomously from established goals and strategic direction.
  • Self-starter with outstanding organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret various government regulations.
  • Ability to travel up to 15-20%
