Sterile Processing Technician

Job Summary: The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, sterilization, and preparation of medical instruments and equipment. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring that all instruments are sterile and ready for use in medical procedures, adhering to all infection control and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Decontamination: Clean and decontaminate medical instruments and equipment using appropriate methods and solutions.
  • Sterilization: Operate and maintain sterilization equipment, ensuring proper procedures are followed to achieve required sterility.
  • Inspection and Assembly: Inspect and assemble surgical instruments and trays according to established protocols and specifications.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes, equipment maintenance, and inventory.
  • Quality Control: Conduct routine quality control checks and participate in ongoing education and training to stay updated on best practices and regulatory standards.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to infection control policies, safety protocols, and regulatory guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; certification in sterile processing preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in sterile processing or a related healthcare role is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with sterilization equipment, decontamination procedures, and infection control practices.
  • Certification: Certification from a recognized sterile processing organization (e.g., CBSPD, IAHCSMM) is preferred but not required.
Requirements:

Experience- minimum 3 years in Medical Environment

1+ years Sterile Processing Experience required

Environment- larger hospital environment
