Job Description: As a Supply Chain Manager at Spartan Tool, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing our overall supply chain and logistics strategy and operations in order to maximize process efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement the overall supply chain strategy in collaboration with senior management and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Manage the entire process and a multi-functional team in the planning of procurement and supply chain activities, including purchasing, inventory management, compliance, logistics and distribution, and leading SIOP processes to ensure effectively-functioning processes to avoid costly delays and lost opportunities:
  • Purchasing:
    • Implement strategic procurement including sourcing strategy, supplier selection and evaluation, quality management, supplier relationship management, performance measurement, and risk assessment.
    • Manage and monitor all transactional procurement including inquiry, evaluation, contracting, contract management, legal considerations, payment conditions, and trade agreement maintenance in D365 system.
    • Ensure the timely acquisition of high-quality materials and services at the best possible cost, supporting production needs and strategic objectives while maintaining minimum inventory levels to meet customer and production demand.
    • Coordinate and support accounts payable team on vendor payments.
  • Inventory management:
    • Take full responsibility for inventory management for the main warehouse in Niles as well as the Territory Managers' location warehouses. Implement and manage inventory management strategies, including safety stock, minimum quantity, and replenishment processes in the MRP system (specifically D365).
    • Lead the cycle count certificate program. Manage a cycle count team and the daily cycle counts and inventory audits to maintain inventory accuracy.
    • Lead the preparation and conducting of annual physical inventory, coordinate with external audit.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual inventory plans/forecasts and progress reports.
  • Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with local and international laws, regulations including customs and trade compliance, and standards related to supply chain operations and safety.
  • Logistics and distribution:
    • Oversee the transportation of goods, ensuring timely delivery and cost efficiency. This includes managing relationships with carriers and third-party logistics providers.
    • Supervise warehousing operations, including receiving, storage, order picking, and shipping. Ensure warehouses are operating efficiently and effectively.
    • Manage the distribution network to optimize delivery times and reduce transportation costs.
  • SIOP processes:
    • Organize and lead regular SIOP meetings involving key stakeholders from sales, marketing, finance, operations, and supply chain.
    • Collaborate with sales team to forecast demand, and utilize MRP system, to manage material requirements planning and optimize inventory levels.
    • Coordinate with manufacturing teams to ensure timely production scheduling and materials availability.
    • Work with finance teams to forecast the financial impact of SIOP plans, including revenue projections and cost management.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.
  • CPIM, CSCP, CPSM or Six Sigma Certification preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Supply Chain Manager or in a similar role, with expertise in overseeing buyers and managing MRP systems (D365).
  • Strong knowledge and experience in inventory management techniques, including safety stock, minimum quantity, and inventory optimization.
  • Demonstrated ability to control costs and optimize manufacturing and procurement processes.
  • Proficiency in negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments and familiarity with production scheduling and costing.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Proficiency in ERP and supply chain management software.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment.
