The Organizational Performance and Workplace Learning (OPWL) department at Boise State University invites applications to apply for our two full-time nine-month tenure-track faculty positions, with one at the Assistant Professor level and one at the Associate Professor level, beginning August 2025. Additional optional summer teaching opportunities are available. We seek to hire innovative educator-researchers.

Within the largest university in Idaho, the OPWL department serves a diverse student body worldwide by providing online Master's degree and four graduate certificate programs (Workplace Instructional Design; Workplace eLearning Design and Development; Workplace Performance Improvement; and Organizational Development). Minimum Qualifications:
- Hold an earned doctorate in instructional design, learning and development (L&D), training and development (T&D), workforce development, human resources development (HRD), organization development (OD), performance improvement (PI), or a related field. We will consider ABDs for assistant professor candidates, but a selected candidate must possess an earned doctoral degree at the time of appointment.
- Have a record of research, scholarship, or achievement appropriate for a graduate program.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- 1 year experience teaching (or Teaching Assistant) courses on principles of adult learning, instructional design, or HRD/OD/PI-related topics.
- Technical savviness to keep up with fast-changing technology-driven and multimedia-based online teaching methods.
Preferred Qualifications: - Developed and taught graduate-level online courses using Canvas.
- Strong demonstrable research skills using either qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods.
- Supervised and mentored student projects (e.g., class projects, independent projects, student assistants' projects, thesis and dissertation research projects).
- Worked for 5+ years with a combination of experiences teaching graduate level courses and/or working in business, military, government, and/or non profit settings, engineering learning experiences and performance improvement solutions informed by evidence to best address individual, team, and organizational challenges globally.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Experience/desire to engage in funded research/grant writing.
Salary and Benefits: The 9-month salaries for an Assistant Professor (from $70,000 to $77,000) and an Associate Professor (from $80,000 to $87,600), commensurate with experience. The 9-month salary/benefits are prorated over 12 months, ensuring health insurance coverage during the summer months.
Summer teaching is available as an option and compensated separately. One 3-credit summer course (with 12 students) is compensated at 9% of a faculty member's 9-month salary (i.e., 3 % per credit hour), and the pay increases with additional students.
