Position Overview:

A Tradesperson Class 2_Floor Person completes detailed tasks associated with the manufacturing and handling of cable and equipment based on training and procedures. This includes, but is not limited to, supporting the needs of manufacturing operations by arranging and ensuring that all required raw materials are delivered to the production lines in a timely manner, coordinating tasks with the Shift Leads, Supervisors, Management and the Production Operators, working in the Armor or Armorless area, as well as working in the Cable Handling and Assembly area. This position will work closely with the Traffic Department to ensure the smooth flow and proper storage of incoming materials and outgoing returnable dunnage. This position may lead the work of others within the area.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • *Leads and communicates with team members in a positive manner.
  • *Safely operates various powered industrial equipment such as fork trucks, pallet jacks, aerial lifts, and hoists.
  • *Successfully learns a variety of production processes, material issuing procedures, documentation requirements and performs them safely and proficiently.
  • *Performs first level visual inspection, identifying errors and reports issues to appropriate personnel.
  • *Follows verbal and written instruction and is accountable for his/her actions.
  • *Follows safety guidelines (PPE, etc.) and demonstrates safe work practices.
  • Adheres to the safety and quality standards (goals and metrics) of the organization while working within a team environment.
  • *Accepts increased responsibility and is accountable for his/her actions.
  • *Maintains timely and accurate production logs.
  • Promotes job and process improvement as it relates to the department (through 5S as well as other improvement initiatives).
  • Overtime may be required, based on business need; regular attendance required.
  • *Accurately store, count, weigh and inspect for damage on all materials required by production
  • *Follows basic inventory practices such as FIFO, lot/serial control and NCM materials.
  • Train others in production related tasks to maintain safety and quality goals.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area at all times.
  • Ability to perform the role of a Tradesperson Class 3/ Scrapper as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • Two or more years of related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
  • Ability to read and interpret hand held measuring equipment such as a metal rule and go/no go gauges.
  • Ability to apply carry out detailed but uninvolved written and oral instructions.
  • Must be flexible to respond to multiple assignment and positively react to changes of responsibilities throughout the day.
  • Ability to work any shift, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to speak, read and write English fluently.
  • Experience with safely operating a forklift and scissor lift within manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team and possess a positive communication style
  • Basic computer skills, including internet, MS Office (especially Excel and Outlook), ERP software, document control software strongly preferred; willingness to learn required
  • Maintaining a valid driver's license (class D; operator) strongly preferred
