Underwriting Account Service Associate or Analyst - Excess Casualty

Zurich North America is currently hiring an Underwriting Account Service Associate or Analyst to join the Excess Casualty team! As an Underwriting Account Service Associate or Analyst, you will support and work closely with experienced Underwriters in the review and analysis of risks. You will enjoy the opportunity to fully apply and hone your research and analytical skills to effectively assess risk and grow your career.

While this position will be based out of one of the following office locations: Gold River, CA; Irvine, CA; Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA; or Denver, CO, you will have the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis. You will partner with your manager to set a flexible work schedule that supports you, our customers, and our brokers and agents. This role will require you to be visible in the marketplace to meet with our agents and brokers and be in the office/market three days per week.

In this role you will be responsible for:

• Reviews, evaluates, and summarizes risk exposures, controls, loss history, and financial condition to aid underwriting decisions around submission acceptance or declination.

• Follows instructions from Underwriters in areas of policy rating, subjective pricing, policy construction, coverages & exclusions, mandatory forms, etc. to accurately quote and issue policies.

• Provides account servicing support in collaboration with Underwriter and Manager, with responsibility for end-to-end servicing processes for new business, renewals, and endorsements for basic to moderately complex business and products.

• Responds to written, verbal telephone inquiries appropriately and on time under close supervision by Underwriter and/or Manager. Working collaboratively with assigned underwriters.

• Supports Underwriter with broker/agent/distributor/customer interactions by providing basic customer service skills.

The role will be filled at the Underwriting Account Service Associate or Underwriting Account Service Analyst level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant's experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

Basic Qualifications:

Underwriting Account Service Associate

• Bachelor's degree and no prior experience in the Administrative, Customer Service, Financial Services, Risk Management, or Insurance area
  OR

• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and no prior experience in the Administrative, Customer Service, Financial Services, Risk Management, or Insurance area
  OR

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the Administrative, Customer Service, Financial Services, Risk Management, or Insurance area
  AND

• Knowledge of data collection and analysis

• Microsoft Office experience

OR

Underwriting Account Service Analyst

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting, Finance, Accounting or Banking area.

OR

• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associates Degree and 2 or mor years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting, Finance, Accounting or Banking area.

OR

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting, Insurance, Underwriting, Finance, Accounting or Banking area.

AND

• Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment.

• Experience with data collection and analysis

• Experience with processing, rating and policy management systems used in the insurance industry. Knowledge of processing, rating and policy management systems used in the insurance or financial industry.

• Customer service experience

• Problem solving experience

• Experience servicing product portfolios for multiple lines of business for insurance or financial industry.

• Microsoft Office experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• Insurance industry knowledge applicable to underwriting rules and procedures

• Superior skills in relationship building, active listening with customers and co-workers

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Customer service experience

• Enjoys working with details and providing accurate data and/or information in a timely manner

• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat

• Ability to multi-task

• 5% Travel

Compensation for roles at Zurich varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. The hourly or annual range provided is a nationwide market range and has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location where the position may be filled. As required by local law, Zurich provides in good faith a reasonable range of compensation for roles. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill, and education. Other rewards may include short term incentive bonuses and merit increases. The starting hourly range for the Underwriting Account Service Associate position based on the following is $23.37 - $38.22 or the starting annual range for the Underwriting Account Service Analyst position based on the following is $53,400 - $87,500.
